Have I found a new ship?

Kaych

Hey! I'm a long time lurker (and I mean loonngg), but never bothered to post. However I think I may have found a new ship. I can't be certain though, so check out the pic yourself:

What do you guys think? Seems like a Miranda hull, but with up-angled nacelles and no rollbar.

Good catch, Kaych! :techman:

I think it becomes more visible in motion ...

Yeah, that's definitely a new ship. A saucer with two nacelles on top of it.

Looks like a saucer with 2 nacelles coming out the top of it. Maybe Kaych cought an uncloaked warbird (Romulan that is).

There could easily be an engineering section below the saucer.

I hope the film is packed with new Starfleet vessels! One of the things that my ol' fanboy heart loved the most about Trek VIII was the plethora of new ships in the Borg battle sequence. <drools>

As if you believed that yourself. :)

The odds are, since we saw a debris field of multiple starships in the trailer, we will see most of the ships intact in an earlier scene. And the odds also are, those ships will be deliberately designed so as not to look confusingly like either the Kelvin or the Enterprise. I'd call that having the odds in our favor...

I hope so too, although Im hoping for a mixture of new ships plus mayb the odd one from the Kelvins class (mayb modified so it looks updated)...would give ship fans some new designs to druel over

I have always kinda liked this, which is a good thing seeming I have the hunch it may have inspired the design of the Kelvin which I also like

Then again, there are only so many ways to arrange one to four cigars around a saucer. I doubt the Jeffries doodles have been conscious inspirations to too many starships, save for the Daedalus desktop model - but many of the people drawing starships, and probably many of the people involved in drawing starships for STXI, have seen these doodles and may be arranging their cigars and saucers with these particular relations in subconscious mind. I just hope this doesn't limit them too much; I'm not personally fond of the exact relationships of the elements in the above picture, for example. The guys who did the Reliant did it better, IMHO.

I just had a thought.

Some people's quarters aboard a starship probably have a window constantly filled with nacelle-light. All that swirling orange playing on the walls while you try to sleep... it's enough to drive a low-rank redshirt mad.

To be fair you'd have to be already mad to want to be a redshirt on a Federation Starship.

I spotted it in the HD screencap, thought it looked kinda odd but pretty cool. Looks like a nice follow on from the ENT Intrepid and Neptune types.

 I've often commented that it makes no sense that you cant' see exterior parts of these ships from the various viewports. Wouldn't there be scores of rooms on the ship in which you'd be looking out across the saucer or seeing a nacelle strut poking up?
