Has there ever been a show with six successful seasons?

^^^IIRC in the case of The Sopranos, HBO wanted a seventh season but David Chase felt the story had run its natural course. Of course, the final season was aired in two parts spread over several months, so in a way I suppose the second part was a kind of unofficial seventh season. Many people maligned the final season, and while I agree it wasn't the strongest, some of my favourite episodes came at the end.

I was talking about shows that have ended after six good seasons.

Typically, shows lasting exactly six seasons are canceled rather than allowed to end naturally. It's either shorter or longer season orders that allow writers to end their shows naturally. That's just the way the industry has evolved.
The Sopranos? Oz? Lost?

None of those were cancelled.

Hence the word "typically" rather than "exclusively"...

The show picked up in the last season, but I always thought Season 5 of the Sopranos was the weak one. A lot of the storylines I thought were re-hashings of earlier plots.

Here's a few more than haven't been mentioned. Will and Grace, party of Five, Gilmore Girls, MASH... lots of em..
