Has the Bottom Fallen Out of Trek Collectables?

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I got a nasty surprise when I went on Ebay last night. I was trying to do two things. The recession is likely going to force a change in jobs and a move, so I was trying to clean out the closet and two raise some money to assist in paying the oil bill. Then I saw it!
AMT Star Trek models were going for less than $20. Johnny Lightning Star Trek die cast weren't moving. I suppose everyone is cleaning closets and trying to raise a little cash. DARN YOU WALL STREET INVESTMENT BANKERS!! MAY YOU SUNBURN BADLY!! LEt me know if it is my imagination, but I think that hte bottom has fallen out of Trek collectables. If you have the money now is a good time to buy. Well I have a 360 mile roundtrip ahead for an interview. Gotta go.

No it hasn't. In less than two weeks I made $1400 off of Trek collectibles and a lot of it sold for more than I've ever seen the items sell for before.

Most of my other items have sold for the average price of what they've been selling for 4 years and that includes model kits which I keep a particularly close eye on because I build them.

There have been a few kits that have consistently gotten really high prices as far as AMT kits are concerned and they include the Enterprise-C, the Yamaguchi, the TMP:Refit (the smoothie) and the Enterprise E. The Enterprise C and E are still selling higher but have dropped because of the Platz repops that came out last year. If you hadn't heard the Enterprise E was just repopped again and is available new at retailers for $22.95 (I just ordered two from starshipmodeler.com).

The other kits like the Excelsior, the Reliant, and the refit Enterprise (non-smoothie) have consistently sold for between $25 and $40. All other kits are generally $15 - $20 band this hasn't changed.

That Johnny Lightning stuff has never garnered a premium. Nobody wants it.

The biggest problem I'm having is getting rid of Playmates action figures and this is eBay's fault. Playmates figures generally go for $5 on eBay. Well between eBay and PayPal raping me on fees (I add a buck to my shipping fees to try to recoup a little of my eBay and PP fees) and the shipping and handling costs, a $5 figure is going to be near $10 when all is said and done and I have 78 figures left to sell (I've only sold 6).

My closet must have the wrong stuff then. OFF TO THE YARD SPRING SALE. I'd rather not let ebay collect the fees. The cheaper it is the more hastle using ebay. I do have the Enterprise C though, but it ain't going anywhere until I build it.
