Has anyone noticed problems with FFnet?

Robert Treat

The past few times I've visited fanfiction.net, if I browse more than a few pages I'll often get a pop-up asking a bunch of questions, and the pop-up looks like the only way to get rid of it is to answer those questions. When I look at the site at siteadvisor or avgthreatlabs, it has a green rating, but is often linked to sites that have a red or yellow rating. Granted, in today's economy free sites want sponsorship, but doesn't that approach seem like a sure way to get people not to visit that site?

I've noticed this ad as well. I do not answer the questions because I don't like the looks of that particular ad. Whenever I have run across it, I have simply navigated away from FFnet and then navigated back to FFnet. Usually it doesn't appear a second time.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

Would NoScript stop it? There are other measures I might consider if I were you--since this is not TrekBBS we're discussing here--but just to be safe, that's still not a conversation I would want to have in public.

I've got a couple of Voyager stories I'm reading open in other windows right now and I don't get any popups of that sort. But then I've got a couple of Firefox add-ons that prevent that sort of thing.
