Harry Kim's birthday, 5 March

Lynx

Vice Admiral
Admiral
According to my calculations, it's Harry Kim's birthday today.

In the book "The Black Shore", Harry Kim mention that it is his birthday. Memory Beta gives the Stardate of the day to 50175 which is Monday 5 March 2373

My sister died on Garrett Wang's birthday. And let the awkward silence begin...

But speaking of birthdays, my daughter's is this month. :adore: where is a celebration emoticon when I need one?

I take the birthday data with a grain of salt. they can't seem to mutually agree to one on Janeway. And I'm that jerk that says books don't count

I'm sorry to hear that......
It's fine. I'm in the acceptance phase otherwise I wouldn't be making comparison jokes. I last saw her alive on Robert Picardo's birthday. Some more interesting trivia there. It was a great day. :) And she was the only girl I knew who loved having her birthday on April fool's day. (1st) so I don't hold back even in her passing. Live authentically was her motto.

I could have sworn they said Harry's birthday was calculated to January which i thought seemed odd since most of them they chose to say it's the same as their actors who portrayed them, but not all exclusively. so again, calculations are being tossed about. Now I want to see if I can find that source again.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to lose close relatives.

As for Kim's birthday being calculated to January, that could have been a suggestion from me presented here.

My initial suggestion for Kim's birthday was actually in January since I considered the events in "The Black Shore" to take place in January, in the beginning of season 3 when Voyager just had left Kazon space.

However, when I started to present my theories about the birthdays of the Voyager crewmembers, some poster told me that Memory Beta had stated the beginning of the events in "The Black Shore" to Stardate 50175 which according to my calculations is Monday 5 March 2373.

I like to celebrate the death of the Harry Kim from Deadlock instead of the birthday of the living Harry.

^^
Aren't you a bit cruel to poor Harry now? :weep:

He was likeable and did have potential which was never used. Not my absolute favorite but I like him.

As for "Deadlock", it took place at Stardate 49548.7 which according to my clculations is Wednesday 19 July 2372.

Or should I write that the events in "Deadlock" will take place Wednesday 19 July 2372 since it hasn't happened yet? ;)

I didn't hate Harry. He was underdeveloped so ended up being boring like most of the cast who weren't the main three. I liked the episode where Seven ordered him to have sex with her.

I do wonder if the crew mourned the version of Harry who died. What happened to the other version of Naomi Wildman?

That's a question that can be best answered by good old @hux.

I like Harry. I confess I'd groan when there was an episode to him (with the exception of timeless) but in all fairness I groaned when it was a Chakotay episode too. so boring. With the exception of Unity and the dinosaur one.

They let him float off into space and they put the other Naomi in a drawer for spare parts.

I'm surprised someone as introspective as Harry didn't ruminate on his counterpart experiencing death. I would have. I've also mentioned in the past that there should have been an episode dealing with how it affected Samantha. You know, instead of "Extreme Risk."

I saw it more as Samantha just wanted to play house for a few weeks. She got a replacement dollie thanks to that divide and now all is well. she got bored and handed the living cabbage patch doll to Neelix. I hope you all know I'm kidding. she's a working mom but so much fun to speculate ridiculous notions now that I have no new episodes to feed my appetite.

Was Sam a neglectful mother? I smell a thread in the offing.
With how little we saw her on camera, it's all up to perception. I don't think it's fair to assume she was neglectful based off what we saw alone.

Not fair... but fun.

I think she became a drunk. The events of Deadlock left her depressed and confused. She took to the bottle while Neelix and Flotter took responsibity for Naomi. She thought her husband was Ktarian (buttocks foreheads) but then the rhino baby came out and she began to suspect that Greskrendtregk may not have been who he said he was. It all started to fester in her fragile mind and she drank to numb the pain.

Neelix would find her in her quarters each morning in a pool of her own shit and piss shouting obscenities about Janeway's dirty ginger fuck-hole.

And that's why we didn't see much of her.

I don't know about that, other than the utter joviality of your obscene references. I'm of the opinion, that I stated recently somewhere, that we often saw her at the science station (extreme right of the bridge looking out from the view screen), but she was always slightly out of focus. It seemed to be a perception thing. Whether it was another actor sitting there or not, the resemblance was close enough, that I think that we were supposed to assume it was Samantha. Look for it. You'll see it quite often.

About Harry Kim, I'd like to ask 2 questions:

1) What is his exact level? I know that right after he was graduated from Starfleet Academy, he served as a (bridge) operations officer but his rank was the one of an enseign of vessel, right? But was his exact level? I mean, look at the rank of lieutenant: there are several levels (Lieutenant Junior, Lieutenant and Lieutenant Commander). Is there several level to this rank too?
-> if he is an enseign, what justifies that he sits in the briefings of the superior officers with all lieutenants (Torres as Chief Engineer ; Paris as flight controller/main helmsman ; Tuvok as Tactical Officer and Chief of Security and [Tuvok will be ranked in S4 Lieutenant Commander] and Seven as Chief of Astrometrics or something like that, which could be assimilated to a rank of lieutenant), Lieutenant Commander Chakotay and of course the Capitain Janeway.
Though Neelix and the The Doctor (holograms aren't real) had no official rank, I'm not surprised to see them sitting in the briefing : Neelix, because he served as chef, morale officer (and ambassador) and The Doctor, as well, doctor. their roles are just unique on aboard. But Harry Kim, as brilliant as he was (he even saw confiding the vessel instead of the captain and of Chakotay, in the night service, ), was only one of the numerous enseigns on board.

2) still as an enseign, how has he been able to take the lead of an away mission further to a Chakotay's decision, in S5's Warhead, even though Tuvok, Torres or even Paris could have do it?

It seems to me that some situation in Voyager, were quite fanciful.
