Harper's Island

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Anyone still watching? I've stuck with it out of morbid curiosity to see how long it would take these rocket scientists to realize that a killer is stalking them.

Now they know, but instead of the stampede for the docks that you'd expect, they all meekly hang around waiting to be slaughtered? Just because the sheriff told them not to leave? Are they the sheriff's hostages now? Nobody even bothered to call their lawyer? These lemmings deserve an axe thru the skull!

The only possible explanation is that the sheriff himself is the killer. "Your mother was a snoop, too." They just gave the game away. :rommie: But really given the callous disregard for people's lives that the sheriff is demonstrating by failing to evacuate the island and call in the FBI (or warn anyone; he's known there's a killer on the loose for a while now), that much should be obvious even without the neon sign of a clue.

It's alright, I like it. I mostly started watching it because it extends into the summer, when all the other TV has ended and there's nothing else to watch. It's the only thing I have to watch for the whole week!

This past episode was actually good because it moved the plot along quite a bit. I wish they had done this sooner as the last few episodes have been a lot of nothing really happening.

I'm watching it for Jim Beaver. When they kill him off, I'm done with the show. There's not enough left for me to care about it.

I'm still watching too. I gotta say those few shots of the [victim]'s mortal wound at the beginning of the last episode were wonderfully grisly. :D

Well you're in luck. Either Beaver is playing the killer or the writing is even dopier than I give them credit for. :D

...but they could pull the Ten Little Indians twist and
"kill" the real killer before the end, leaving only the male and female leads (the groom and Beaver's daughter) to wonder how their bestest friend in the whole wide world could possibly be a killer. And then the real killer comes back at the last possible moment.

I'm really just watching to see if they do that.

So, it's a bit later, we're getting it in Oz. Anyone still watching now?

I like early King, but couldn't stand him after, iirc, Pet Sematary.

As a writer myself though, his 'On Writing' is very good, as a memoir and as a writing guide.

I'm still watching, it's still not good but it's progressed from boring to campy fun. And this time of year, it doesn't pay to be fussy about TV. :D

My theory about what's going on:

Abby being Wakefield's daughter is way too obvious, as is the Sherrif's supposed guilt. The "child" mentioned in the diary is someone else who grew up on the island and is Abby's older half-sibling. Abby herself really is the Sherrif's daughter. The older half-sibling was given away at birth to shield him from his evil dad, who went berzerk when he realized that his son had been given up for adoption.

I think Abby's half-brother is Henry. They already act like siblings, and Henry going nuts and beating up that guy in this episode is a hint that he, not Abby, has the "bad blood" and is the real killer.

This isn't Ten Little Indians, it's Psycho, with Henry (who even looks like Tony Perkins) as Norman Bates, with a split personality that enacts the crimes of his parent. ;)

It's hilarious how much time elapsed between the Sheriff realizing there's a killer on the loose and the cops supposedly arriving to rescue everyone (which still hasn't happened!) This island isn't in the middle of antarctica in the dead of winter. Can't the cops send a chopper over from Seattle or something?!? Apparently the FBI can't be bothered with a serial killer on the loose. You'd think half a dozen murders in the space of a couple days would light a fire under somebody's ass...

Last night's episode was actually pretty decent! Gripping, suspenseful - yknow, all the stuff the show should have been from the first. Helps that they've offed most of the most annoying characters. Blond surfer looking guy is next, along with the girl who showed up out of nowhere (who IS she?) - that's never a healthy thing for a character to do.

Three episodes to go, and 12 characters left standing, so I guess we're in for some serious bloodbaths.

My prediction how it ends: Henry is really Wellington's son and also Abby's half-brother. He's schizo and the "psycho" part of his personality has been murdering people on daddy's behalf. The cast will be whittled down to Henry, Abby and Trish. Abby will realize what's going on only when Henry kills Trish. Then Abby will have to hunt Henry and kill him. The End.

Abby will be the only survivor, assuming they have the guts to kill Madison off. I hope so, the brat annoys me. :D

^ The girl that came out of nowhere is the bartender at the bar they were holed up at. We saw her tending bar in a few previous episodes and I think she was a friend of Abby's back when she still lived there.

And I knew we'd be seeing the original killer from years ago eventually. They wouldn't have hired Callum Keith Rennie just to be the face of a dead guy in a few photographs. :D
