Harmony 880 & 890 remote LCARS wallpaper

I know from other forums that the Harmony 880 and 890 universal home theater remote controls are very popular. You can change the wallpaper on them and I made a LCARS version for mine. Make sure you have the latest software and firmware for both your remote and computer as both have been recently updated. You will then find a tab on the software, Remote Settings. Under that tab you will find a button labelled Set A Background. Upload this one. You will also need to delete the preset icons. On the same Remote Settings screen, you'll find another button called Select A Theme. Choose Harmony No Icons.

Don't worry that this picture is dark. It lightens right up when back lit by the remote.

Thanks, LCARS 24, although I might have to go non-canon for my use.

Many of those colors would be too bright because of the back lighting of the remote. The remote uses white writing that label hard buttons on the edges of the screen. You change the labels for the different things the remote is controlling. The remote's white labels appear over the LCARS screen and with too bright a background, the button legends are unreadible.

The trick would be to try and match the darker colors on your color chart after the back lighting. You'd have to start out too dark and let the remote's internal light bring them back to the canon colors. It would be an interesting project. I didn't bother with that. My first attempts ran into the above problem and just wanted something that was legible. My eye says I came pretty close on two colors as it was.

If I do go for canon colors, I'll post it here.

LCARS 24, you knew when you gave me the correct color chart that eventually I'd get around to fixing this, right? That's what being a nerdy Trekkie, obsessed over minutia, is all about.

Here is the new background. I'm also including a picture of the remote so you can see how the backlighting changes the colors, intensifying them. I had trouble given the limited color palette of the LCD screen on this remote. It was never meant for this. Red was completely out. Forget it. I never could make the orange vivid. When I got it bright enough, it then got splotchy. I had to back off the intensity but then it wasn't quite orange enough. This picture of the remote doesn't really show it well but the three purples and the blues are pretty damn close to the color chart.

It is also unfortunate that the remote inserts a blue line under each legend. I wish it wasn't there but there is nothing I can do about it.

Overall, quite a fun little project.
