I have it on good (parental) authority that I watched "The Man Trap" on my father's knee, at the age of not quite two, on this day 42 years ago. I honestly can't remember a time when Star Trek wasn't an important part of my life.

42 years and still loved by millions upon millions! Not bad. May it continue to live long and prosper!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STAR TREK!

HAPPY STAR TREK DAY!! I wasn't watching the first run (I was busy being cute and adorable!), but since the first time I saw an episode I have been hooked...

I used to make an effort to watch one of my Trek videos on September 8, but for a number of reasons got out of the habit. Well, today, I watched an episode each of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, and had a fine time doing so. I've said a few times that it's been easy not to miss having weekly Star Trek, between all the other SF TV on the one hand, the somewhat disappointing Voyager and Enterprise on the second hand, and the great developments in the Trek books line on the third hand... but watching these episodes today really made me miss weekly Trek again. But if Doctor Who can have as successful a comeback as it's had, there's still hope for Star Trek.

Happy Birthday, Star Trek! I'm sure you will provide at least another 42 years of absolute enjoyment!:bolian:
