Happy Life Day

Today marks the 37th anniversary of the airing of the "Star Wars Holiday Special." Something that has baffled people for over a generation.

Tonight I sit down for my annual watching of it with Rifftrax (features humorous commentary with Mystery Science Theater 30000 stars Mike Nelso, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett.)

The Riff (with video and commentary combined) can be purchased and downloaded at Rifftrax.com. It's on sale today for $2 off, making it $7.99.

Happy Life Day and share in your memories and experiences with this... "special" special.

Ah, then I guess I'll offer the traditional Life Day greeting:

FUCK OFF!

It loses something when translated from the original Wookiee.

;)

Awesome! I haven't seen this since it first aired. Interesting that there's a character with a Boba Fett helmet in the cartoon (which I don't remember), considering this was 1978.

^ Unfortunately, the cartoon was excised from that YouTube video posted upthread for copyright reasons. You'll have to catch it some other way, for example as an Easter egg in the Blu-ray release of the saga, as mentioned in that Wookieepedia article. It's really an interesting and unusual cartoon, best part of the show, I think.

That's not saying a lot. ;)
