Happy 'I have no effin clue this holiday is called' Day!

May Day is a funny old holiday.
The police are real spoilsports in my city. They've taken to closing off Magdalen Bridge on May Day morning for the past few years, to stop students jumping in the river. OK, they've probably saved a few kids from broken ankles or worse, but it does mean a little loss of local colour. And the locals can't play "stick a few broken bottles in the river bed to welcome the students" game either. No fun for anyone!
On the other hands, the police attending May Day today also ensured I got a nice little cash bonus for 30 minutes work, through a slightly convoluted sequence of events, so they're not all bad.

Same here. The police refuse to allow the worker's parties, communists and anarchists to march on city streets unescorted.
Around here, the paperwork for the Flaming Barrels of Tar Permit is insane.
