I had dinner with my dad. and texted pretty much every male member of my family with the rank of Uncle and above.

Speaking of which, I personally am also an Uncle - which is as close as I dare get - and it is a lot of fun. Because I get to hand these kids off to their actual parents at the end of a trip.

I'm not a dad, but I'm an uncle and a grand-uncle three times over -- with a fourth on the way.

My own dad turned 94 this month. God willing, he'll be around for a couple more years.
