Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! I'm stuck working today but I'll get Monday off for the 4th of July.

And what better way to celebrate Canada than to have The Shat sing O Canada.

I may not be Canadian but I have grown to like Canada very much over the last few years. It is one of my favorite places to go and I look forward to seeing more of it (I really want to go to the Calgary Stampede next year... *). So I'll knock back a few  in their honor. :techman:

Oh and @Shanndee, here's a much better rendition. Just wish there was a version without bloody Terrance and Phillip in it. :sigh:

* I also want to visit Montreal but unfortunately I don't speak French. I've been told this isn't a problem, though (at least not for tourists).

Now that is more like it!! Thanks MLB :D

Hubby and I have been trying to go to the Stampede for years now, and we have yet to make it. Maybe we'll see you there someday! And do visit Montreal, it is a beautiful city, and I don't think you will find language an issue at all. ( I don't speak French at all either and I was fine ).

To my fellow tourists, I have the following giblet of wisdom to propound:

That thing about Canadians being friendly and polite is not a cliché. It is the absolute God's honest truth. I have been going to Toronto - which is one of my favorite cities in the entire world - for awhile now, and the people there have always been VERY nice to me. Canadians are a wonderful and engaging people - it's like the exact opposite of Philadelphia. I'm sure they sussed me out as a tourist within seconds, but no one ever held that against me.

That said, I must put forth a warning: When visiting Parliament Hill in Ottawa (which I also enjoyed very much), do not under any circumstances toast marshmallows over the Centennial Flame. No matter how cold it gets!

(seriously. I was there the first week in May, and it was BRUTALLY cold. All the time I toured the Centre Block I had on Eskimo-grade clothing. I thought I was gonna get blown right off Parliament Hill and end up in Detroit or something...)

Oh, and speaking of Toronto: No, I will NEVER do the EdgeWalk. Not even if you paid me!

One other thing: Is it just me, or does the entrance of the Royal Ontario Museum look like a crashed Borg cube? :borg:

Unfortunately it had been raining all day, at least here, and I noticed on TV during the celebrations on the hill that it had started to rain there too. I don't always like many of the performers on that stage, but most of them were quite good this year. Hay Babies, Alex Cuba and Indian City were the standouts for me. They managed to make a more a 'blah' day more exciting.

Hey LB, I'm sure you'll visit again, and if so, you should come even further north. We have a science centre that was designed to look like two snowflakes when seen from the air.

Happy Canada Day to our good friends to the North. Best neighbors anyone could ask for. :)

I'll be nice and not post "Blame Canada." :D
