Happy Birthday William Shatner!

Lucky

Captain
Captain
The man, the myth, the legend, the almighty Shat himself turned 83 today. And he's still going strong. :techman::beer:

He honestly does not look it. Happy birthday Mr. Shatner. The finest Captain in the whole of Star Fleet. :techman:

I hope I look as good as he does when I'm 83! Happy Birthday, Mr. Shatner! :D

McCoy: [handing Kirk a birthday gift, after Kirk hands him the Romulan ale] Now you open this one.
Kirk: [taking gift] I'm almost afraid to. What is it, Klingon aphrodisiacs?
McCoy: No. More antiques for your collection.

Kirk: [reading] "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." - Message, Spock?
Spock: None that I'm conscious of. Except of course; happy birthday! -Surely the best of times.

Cheers and, indeed, the best of times...imagine things without him...

Happy Birthday, Captain!!!

I honored Mr. Shatner's birthday by watching Star Trek V last night... It's still a mess but it has its moments. My favorite sequence is by far the scene with Sybok relieving McCoy and Spock of their "pain". Great performances by everyone and the staging of the scene is actually quite impressive. It's the closest that the movie comes to greatness. "I don't want my pain taken away, I need my pain!" is a great Shatner moment. I also can't think of a better scene for Deforest Kelley as McCoy. He was never better...

I used to think STV was just about the worst Trek possible. Then JJ Abrams showed me how wrong I was.

(My own fave movie McCoy moment is the look on his face when Scotty says "why? how do we know he didn't invent the thing?" in STIV.)

Missed the Shat's b-day, but re-watching STV seems like a not-bad idea to honor it. I've seen V only once all the way through. Maybe it wears better with age.
