Happy Birthday Star Trek

I marked the occasion with viewings of one episode each from the three seasons:

The Man Trap (Not a favorite, but picked for obvious reasons).
Mirror, Mirror (my all time favorite).
The Tholian Web (another favorite).

Happy Anniversary, everyone!:bolian: Great to be part of it all.

Although it's rather strange to think that I wasn't even born when it started. That's what I call standing the test of time .

Yes, Happy Birthday STAR TREK.... I have been watching this great show adventure since September 8, 1966 and it keeps getting better.:techman:[/QUOTE]

And I've been watching since September 7, 1966. So there.

....and I've been watching it since it first aired in the UK in 1969 but I have been unable to discover the exact date. Does anyone know?

July 12. The episode was "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Thanks for that. I did actually remember which episode it was which is amazing after all these years. My youngest daughter was just three months old.

I finally cracked the shrink-wrap on my Season 1 blu-ray set and watched "The Man Trap." I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the transfer and the new effects. I also watched a few minutes with the original effects, and that wasn't bad either. The only complaint would be that the new FX were a bit too crisp and shiny. A bit more faux-film grain would make them blend with the original footage better.

On the whole, I enjoyed this episode more than I have in a long time, and I'm actually a bit inspired to do a complete series re-watch.

Actually, we have two Star Trek anniversaries to celebrate this week.
I just realized that we missed the 37th anniversary of the cartoon. It premiered on Saturday, September 8th of 1973.
