Happy 60th Birthday Disneyland!!!!

Friday July 17th marks 60 years since the opening of "Walt's folly".

Does anybody want to share any special memories of their first visit or last visit? What's your favourite land? Which attraction do you run to first?

For me, personally, a tradition is, I always enter through the left tunnel and leave through the left tunnel (think about it ;) ). As soon as I enter Town Square I go to the fire station and say hello to Walt by looking up to his lit lamp in the window and thanking him for what he gave me.

Even though it's been thirteen years since I last visited (Tokyo Disney Resort is my home resort and I've been there twice since), I have AMAZING memories of my holidays to the DLR and look forward to the next time I visit.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!

last time I visited was 2003...and Tomorrowland was a shadow of it's former self..
(Space Mountain was closed for seismic retrofitting (no notice) ..the Rockin Rods ride was closed (Too many breakdowns and they shuttered it) and the Submarine adventure was closed as well (Atlantis the Lost Empire did OK at the box office not good enough to earn a ride at Disneyland)... but all the other lands were OK..and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride never disappoints..

I'm told it's much better now...

Haven't visited since 2002. Hubby took me there for my birthday--or rather, I dragged him there and he paid for most of it--back before we were even engaged. I LOVED it. I had visited several times back in my college days, but that was a looooong time ago.

Of course, I'll probably never get back there, but God, I sure loved it.

it bored the hell out of me. I was sad more kids got punished than had fun because the parents took on too much. My favorite moment was my first day on the job and security thought I was a lost tourist because of my out of state plates. hehehe. And I kind of got a kick out of the shattered illusion when I saw character actors backstage smoking and slouching.

I've been going to DisneyWorld since I can remember but didn't visit DisneyLand for the first time until 2007. It was enjoyable but I actually liked California Adventure more than DL. We're are planning on visiting DisneyLand again in 2017, so exactly 10 years between visits.

I'm celebrating by visiting in two days!! I would be there today, on the actual anniversary, if it wasn't a blockout day for my annual passport. I was just there in April, but since then the new Peter Pan and Matterhorn have opened up, so I'm looking forward to experiencing those. My favorite ride is Indiana Jones, can't wait to ride that on repeat as much as possible.

Let's see, a favorite memory...well, my very first was an image of the parking lot when I was 2. That's actually the first memory I can recall at all. And of course now that parking lot is California Adventure.

To be honest I can't think of one particular memory that stands out. We went about once every three years when I was a kid, and as an adult I've been more often, so it all kinds of melds together at this point. It's a part of my subconscious now.

And this is part of the reason I'm no tin a hurry to head back to the US parks.

In early April I took my partner to Japan and he visited his first ever Disney park - the AMAZING Tokyo Disney Resort. Besides touring around Japan we also spent seven days at the resort and built memories for a lifetime! This was my third trip to the TDR and, as always, the cast members were a true E ticket, in themselves! Disney fans will know what that means.

Towards the end of the trip, my beautiful partner asked me if the US parks were like this, as in, do the CMs make you feel THIS special and is it such a wonderful experience. I had to tell him, no. the Tokyo resort is magical beyond words, not the least of which is the inclusion of one of the modern wonders of the world in Tokyo DisneySea.

I explained to him that for all its vaunted customer service, I found the US to be somewhat lacking and CERTAINLY not up to the standards of even the local "combini" (7/11) in Tokyo. I'd hate for his illusion of Disney parks to be shattered meeting a CM like the one quoted, after the BRILLIANT experience we had in Tokyo, where even though only a small fragment of the CMs can speak even broken English, ALL of them have a desire to WANT to communicate with you and to make your stay as MAGICAL and WONDERFUL as possible!

Thanks for saving me THOUSANDS of dollars and making me realize the Tokyo Disney Resort will ALWAYS now be my FAVOURITE Disney resort in the entire world!
