Happy 25th Anniversary, Voyager.

25 years ago today, Caretaker aired and started the long journey home for our intrepid crew. A female captain was the lead character and has become a role model for a lot of people over the years. A crew member who was assimilated by the Borg and rescued by Voyager is coming back in the new Series beginning next week.

Caretaker aired when I was finishing up Elementary School. Basically I went through my Middle and High School years when Voyager was on, so I do have a pretty big nostalgia for it. I've been rewatching the series since the beginning of the year (Got up to Warlord last night) and a lot of the episodes still hold up for me.

Happy Silver Anniversary, Voyager.

Well said! I watched it from the beginning when it first aired with no expectations good or bad, but was very interested. I didn't make it through the first run because of the endless use of the Kazon, but I've rewatched the whole series in recent years. A very mixed bag, but it's definitely had its impact on Trek, as we're seeing with the new PIC series.

Happy anniversary Voyager!
I watched it through on first run and have dipped in and out since. It's not my favourite Trek, it has to be said, I feel it was ripe with wasted potential because of a desire to create TNG 2.0 rather than be it's own thing, but when it delivered, it was really enjoyable. The character of Seven had to be the standout success for me, and some episodes entered safely into the Best of Trek hall of fame.
Year of Hell, Living Witness, Scorpion, State of Flux, Blink of an Eye, Latent Image, Course Oblivion, Equinox, Counterpoint. All excellent.

Happy Birthday Voyager, the first series I was able to watch live. In celebration I'll break out the old VCR and watch Caretaker that I recorded off live off UPN. :)

I know ads suck, but watching the Ads from 25 years ago could be an interesting experience.

Happy Bday Voyager! I remember watching it as it aired. Probably watched them all again 12 times over in the past 25 years.

25 years.

As a fan from the beginning (I was sold by Mulgrew's delivery of the line "Mr Kim - at ease, before you sprain something" and it continued from there) to the end (I maintain that I'm one of the only 12 or so people who've ever registered here who genuinely likes "Endgame"), I'm well aware that Voyager is flawed...and I still couldn't care less. If its creators had had the freedom of expression afforded the creators of similar series it may have been "better", but I doubt I'd have enjoyed it any more than I did. With the exception of the execrable Chuckles, Voyager's characters are my favourite group in all Trek. I was interested in them and gave a damn about what happened to them. At its best it was superb; at its worst it still wasn't anywhere near as bad as it's made out to be. I must make time to watch it again; I'd be surprised if I didn't enjoy it just as much.

I'm thankful to (almost) all involved in the show. As it turned out they provided me with much, much more than seven years of highly enjoyable television. Good on them. :bolian:

The silver anniversary definitely needs a wallpaper from the show's biggest fan .

So here's one I made years ago (you can see its original in my thread), which I have edited a little to fit the occasion. I hope you'll like it. Cheers - and a Happy Birthday, VOYAGER!

Of course, go ahead. My wallpapers are free to use, I only keep making them because it is a very relaxing way of spending my free time (while listening to some - usually relaxing - music).

So feel free to use any of them. On PINTEREST there are some more … although sooner or later they will all be shared here too in my thread.

It was twenty-five years ago today
Captain Janeway taught her crew to play
They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years
Captain Janeway's Voyager Club Band

We're Captain Janeway's Voyager Club Band
We hope you will enjoy the show
We're Captain Janeway's Voyager Club Band
Sit back and let the evening go
Captain Janeway's Voyager, Captain Janeway's Voyager
Captain Janeway's Voyager Club Band
It's wonderful to be here in the DQ
It's certainly a thrill
You're such a lovely audience
We'd like to take you home to Earth
We'd love to take you home

I don't really want to stop the show
But I thought that you might like to know
That the crew is going to sing a song
And they wants you all to sing along
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Starfleet-Maquis crew
Captain Janeway's Voyager Club Band

Happy Anniversary Voyager!

Hard to believe it's been 25 years. I caught VOY at about the same time in my life, Middle/High School. It was the only Trek for me over 7 years as DS9 was in a syndication time slot hell in my area. It used to air on Friday nights at 10PM for me. I used to set the VCR to record if I was working or out. It was great and I was oblivious to it's supposed shortcomings as I was not online back then. No spoilers either other than what I was able to catch in TV Guide. I still have a few of those Trek cover guides in a box somewhere I think! I liked the stronger female characters, especially Janeway and Seven, who took no guff. I thought it was a well rounded cast, I liked the ship and sets, and I liked the premise despite how it never really reached it's full narrative potential. Amuses me today but in "Night" when they blew off so many photon torpedoes I thought they were screwed for the rest of the journey! Unbeknownst to us, off screen, they picked up an Infinity torpedo and shuttle replicator.

Still my favorite Trek today.

Not exactly the truth.

They didn't use an Infinity Torpedo and Shuttle Replicator.

They created The Torpedo and Shuttle Building Team! :techman:

This is what happened:

Stardate 48942.07 (Friday 10 December 2371)

The latest events have put us in a difficult situation since we have wasted a lot of torpedoes and damaged a shuttle. Therefore I have asked Commander Chakotay, Liutenant Tuvok and Lieutenant Torres to come to my ready room to discuss an idea I have.

"You all know what has happened" said Janeway. "After the recent adventure with the Furies (Voyager book "The Final Fury" in which the adventures took place between the episodes "Elogium" and "Twisted"), we have lost a shuttle. We have also wasted too many torpedoes. If we keep on wasting our torpedoes in the same way, we will be out of them soon. Considering our long journey and the risk of running into hostile aliens, we need both shuttles and torpedoes. Therefore I want to discuss this idea I have."

"What woud that be?" Chakotay asked.

"I suggest that we set up a special workforce on the ship" Janeway said. "The Shuttle and Torpedo Building Team". "Some really skilled people who can have as their priority to build shuttles and torpedoes when it's necessary. If we do so, we will have a chance to avoid being without those in a critical situation."

"That sounds like a good idea", Chakotay said.

"Indeed. And a very logical idea too considering our need for such items" Tuvok said.

"Exactly my thoughts too", said Janeway. "B'Elanna, do you have any people to spare?"

"Well, I think that Dalby, Henley, Gerron and Chell would be perfect for the job. And I would also like to have Lt. Carey in charge of the team. He's the right person for that. If necessary, I can give a helping hand too in a crisis. But I must point out that I need these people in Engineering too and that they would only work with shuttles and torpedoes when necessary."

"I agree", Janeway said. "I would also suggest that we find some other people too among the crew who can assist with shuttle and torpedo building when necessary". Janeway touched her combadge: "Mr Carey, can you come to my ready room immediately!"

And so The Shuttle and Torpedo Building Team was born. From the beginning, it was Lt.Carey, Dalby, Henley, Gerron and Chell. Later on Rollins, Vorik, Samantha Wildman and The Borg baby were added to the team. In fact, those people are the true heroes on Voyager. Without their hard work, Voyager's mission would have been almost impossible.

I LOVE this picture

(everyone look at the objective of the camera... except Seven whose the gaze is fixed on Janeway, as if she wondered how to behave in such a situation OR for the J/7 shippers, no matter the circonstances and/or the entourage or surrounding, the gaze remains fixed on the only person, who is close to her heart! :D).

And THANK YOU to Lynx to have added Kes! :techman:
