The galaxy can giggle all it wants, but it's not getting any of our favorite episodes!
It's important to remember, that some of the disappointments fans had, were not their choice. If I recall correctly, they didn't want things like phasepistols and the transporter. It was the studios who decided that these familiar items needed to be included so people would really recognize it as Star Trek.
I seem to remember reading that the original plan was to not even have the ship launch at the beginning of the series, that this would happen later on in season 1.
Yeah I wonder what ENT could have looked like if it wasn't a network TV show like TNG and DS9. They probably would have had the break they wanted after VOY as well to charge their creative batteries.

I've been thinking about ENT a lot recently. I'm doing a DS9 rewatch and then probably TNG to celebrate the 30th but after that I might go back to Enterprise. It's almost been 2 years since my last rewatch.
