Wednesday, May28th marks the 100th birthday of Ian Fleming. The Bondverse is celebrating with a new book, Devil May Care, written in "Fleming" style by Sebastian Faulks.
Although the character exists in several different incarnations: the movies, the Gardner books, and the Bensen books, nothing quite compares to the original. While I am looking forward to Faulks's attempt, which is really the first book in the original continuity (following The Living Daylights, and perhaps Amis's Colonel Sun), I really enjoy the Fleming novels.
Happy Birthday to a great genre writer.
And, Happy Birthday to his most famous villian, Ernst Stavro Blofeld too. (Just a bit of trivia)
