HALO Legends DVD

The Master of Tarquin Hill

I guess a review of this disc might "belong" elsewhere, but that idea strikes me as kinda silly.

For the most part, I felt like I was watching a Robotech and Starblazers wannabe's disc.

The last ep., "The Package" was impressive, and pretty much what I was looking for, the rest was weird ass shit that I could find in your average contemporary art exhibit at your local museum.

IOW, silly pretentious bullshit.

I wanted more.

I completely agree with your review lol. It was dull and as you said, pretentious. The animation for most of the shorts wasn't even that great either. I'm glad I didn't pay for it ;)

I liked the Production IG ones - Homecoming in particular. The Bones ones were fairly disappointing.

It's probably a problem of just the general crapiness of the anthology format combined with the lack of decent English voice actors.

Legends was a mixed bag for me.

I liked Origins, The Package, Homecoming, and The Babysitter. The later three felt like actual Halo stories.

I dislked Prototype and Odd One Out.

Prototype was too cliche. Odd One Out was too much like DBZ, which I've never been a big fan of.

I thought the story for The Duel was good, but they were trying to be too hard to be artistic with the watercolor animation. It was like I watching movie without glasses which was too distracting. Maybe my opinion of it will go up in the future.

The Halo novels are way better. It might be a long time before we get an actual Halo live action movie, so I'm glad we got this.

I haven't seen this yet, but from what I'm reading, it sounds like the same reactions I had to "The AniMatrix" and "Batman: Gotham Knight".

It was a mixed bag for me. But I'm not really in tuned with the Halo universe so outside of the Master Chief I don't really know anybody else.

I didn't even know spartans were humans. I thought they were robots.

So far I've seen three of the segments (Origin and Odd Man Out) and I loved all three. Can't wait to watch the rest! It's funny how Origin was a carbon copy of The Second Renaissance in Animatrix right down to the female AI lovingly putting her hand to the face of the person in cryo. Odd Man Out was an interesting comedic take on the Haloverse, I actually thought it was pretty funny.

Saw two more and they were just alright, "The Duel" and "Homecoming". They were pretty depressing! The Duel had a really interesting visual style though, like a living watercolor painting. Seeing Elites in Japanese komodos and buildings was pretty freaky.
