Halo 3: ODST

Big Halo fan here, so yes. In addition to the new SP campaign, I'm really interested in this new Firefight multiplayer mode.

Oh, and I like the avatar. :techman:

I'm sort of interested in it. I'm a little disappointed that they decided to charge full price for it though. I guess they just couldn't resist. I will say though that Im more curious about Halo Reach than ODST

I'm definitely looking forward to ODST. I've always enjoyed the Halo universe. It's a bummer they're charging full price for it though. I'm not sure $60 is worth a campaign and Firefight mode.

It's weird, because District 9 got me to watch the Halo shorts again and now I'm all hyped up to play around with ODSTs.

That said, yeah, I don't know if it's worth 60 dollars especially if I don't play multiplayer.

Wasn't this game just made to compete with some other game's multiplayer mode? I remember reading that somewhere. Can't confirm it's accuracy since I'm not a big Halo fan.

But all it does it just include all the maps that have been previously released on one disc. As far as I know, ODST is compatible with Halo 3, so it's not like it's anything "new".

Originally, it was announced as an expansion pack - or at least as close as one can get on a console.

^Firefight mode = Horde mode from Gears of War 2

Ya, that's what I was thinking off.

I don't even consider that a mode because I won't be able to play it.
I simply don't know 3 other Halo players and without matchmaking, it's pointless for me.

I know Bungie thinks no one wants to do co-op with randoms, but that's a shallow excuse not to have the feature at all - especially when every other game has some kind of co-op matchmaking.

I'm not paying $60 for an expansion pack, and it's taken too long to reach release. No.

Nobody is paying $60 for "just" an expansion pack. It's essentially a full game. You have a new (albeit short) campaign + an exact copy of what originally came with Halo 3 + every map pack released over LIVE + 3 exclusive maps only available on the ODST MP disc (making a grand total of 24 maps) + a new co-op mode called Firefight. (Also included is the Halo Reach MP Beta, though that's more of a bonus and shouldn't be considered toward the value, IMO).

That's no mere expansion pack. Now, of course the argument that if you want it you are forced to also get what you likely already have anyway (Halo 3 MP) is reasonable. But the package in and of itself, I'd say is worth the $60.

And no, I'm not on M$'s payroll. ;)

Heh, a new sprawling Sci Fi epic starring Nathan Fillion, Tricia Helfer, Alan Tudyk and Adam Baldwin has my interest regardless of whether its a video game, movie or TV show.

Plus the new Campaign should be different enough gameplay wise to not feel like an expansion pack. It looks far more covert and sneaky than Halo has ever been.

No, thats pretty much an expansion pack + crap that everyone already owns. There is extremely little in the way of new content.

Yep. Right you are clint q. I see 90% repackaged content there and a short campaign. That's an expansion pack ... not a new game.

Is the game both Halo 3 and the expansion game? or just a standalone? Because I don't have Halo 3 and if this is both games I would get it.

This is my problem with voice acting work nowadays - "celebrities" who end up basically sounding like themselves as opposed to trying to act a character.
I understand why they do it - so they can have these people pimp the game - but very rarely do they turn out a performance that's notable.
