Halloween Treklit

F. King Daniel

Halloween's coming up, and I want to read some spooky Star Trek. I have fond memories of Bloodthirst (vampire virus, lovely Lamia), Death's Angel (vampire ambassador), and little to no memories of Demons and it's TNG sequel, Possesion.

I'll probably be reading Demons over Halloween, but can anyone recommend any other eerie, creepy, spooky or scary Treklit? It doesn't have to be about space ghosts, zombies or vampires or whatever (but those are all good too!) - just something that gave you a chill.

I guess "Ghost-Walker" was appropriately named, but what about the creepy/bizarre first 100 pages of "Gateways: Challenger: Chainmail", in which we meet some weird, metal, statue-like things.

^ A lot of people don't like that book very much, but I freaking LOVED it. Those first 100 pages are fabulously weird.

I agree! A bit daunting when so many online complaints started to turn up here but, when I got to it, it really drew me in to a totally alien environment.

The TOS novel Shell Game is one of my favorites - as close to an actual 'haunted house' story as they get, with a Romulan space station found adrift and a crew of dead Romulans. I love that book.

I'd forgotten about Shell Game! That space station was a little eerie. I just read Ghost Walker a few months ago, so I have no buisness forgetting that one either:lol:.

I've got Gateways: Chainmail, but I don't have the whole Gateways saga yet, and when I've got them I'd like to read them all sequentially. Maybe I can plan it out and time it to coincide with next halloween.

At the risk of tooting my own horn, THE BLACK SHORE is basically a vampire novel in Star Trek drag . . . .

I started with that one, and ended up loving it.

Fallen Heroes is somewhat similar: Odo and Quark are thrown three days into the future to find Deep Space Nine completely lifeless, with dead bodies stacked politely in the corridors.

The DS9 novel Warped is pretty dark. Though a lot of people don't like that book, it's actually my favorite DS9 novel.
