In the scenes in the crew quarters, I notice a reflection of a blinking light, like the red alert light, bouncing off the walls every now and then. Are there alert lights inside the quarters?

As i have no personal knowledge of such i cannot give a definitive answer, however, it would make perfect sense if there were.

I saw the same light in Conspiracy, I believe it was - a secret communication to the Captain in his quarters. He just kept talking with that red light flashing annoyingly in the room.
The interfaces look good on TV but in reality would probably trigger epilepsy!
