What if Voyager had never been sent to the Delta Quadrant? Other than a vastly different situation, there were a number of crew people that were killed who would otherwise have been important figures: Cavit, Stadi, the Chief Medical Officer. Neelix and Seven of Nine would not have been saved. There is also the matter that they would not have devastated the Borg on their final mission, nor would they have gotten any information on the Delta Quadrant.

Annorax, left unchecked, eventually makes changes in the delta quadrant that have massive effects on Federation space leaving everything completely unrecognizable.

Sam Wildman would have gone back to Deep Space Nine to have her baby with her husband. Odo would be Naomi's godfather.

Voyager would survive the war, but lose a lot of folks. Harry Kim leaves at the end of war after be rejected for a promotion.

Species 8472 might actually have defeated the Borg, but having never become aware of Starfleet or the Federation, wouldn't have bothered with replica of Starfleet Command.

Starfleet wouldn't have bothered making the advancements they did in long-distance communications. With no Pathfinder Project, Barclay would continue to serve on the Enterprise as a relatively obscure engineer.

Assuming Chakotay's Maquis ship wasn't sent to the Delta Quadrant either, Tuvok would finish up his assignment, likely resulting in the capture and arrest of Chakotay and his crew. Depending on when exactly this goes down, the downfall of the Obsidian Order within a matter of months likely doesn't mean a positive future for Seska. Chakotay, B'Ellanna and the others are being held in prison when the Dominion take down the Maquis.

Tom Paris finishes off his prison term and becomes a drifting barfly. Basically what we saw in Non Sequitor, only this time Harry isn't tracking him down trying to awaken the decent man within.

Held in prison or killed by the Kazons.

Not so sure because if I remember well, Tom Paris had been pardoned at Janeway's request a few time BEFORE she went to pick him up in New Zealand to helm the vessel for the mission which had been confided to her (to catch Chakotay's Val Jean) : remember the little chat between Janeway & Adm. Patterson in Relativity.
-> conscious that a 2nd chance was to be offered to him, I think that Tom Paris would have tried to make something of his life (in the piloting or in the creation of holo-programs, Domains in which he knew to be talented).

And Janeway would have seen Molly's puppies and would have got married to Mark Johnson. ;)

I thought he was paroled into her custody, not pardoned to help her track down Chakotay's ship or base. In Caretaker, didn't she say that she would speak for him at his next out-mate review.

How much was his original sentence supposed to be?

I surely confused between "pardonned" and "paroled into her custody". Sorry. But, in the end, no matter, because I'm pretty sure that he would have given any satisfaction to Janeway and when Voyager and the crew would have returned from the mission, after 3 weeks (the time initially planned) , Janeway would have done anything (with the help of Patterson) to make Paris benefit from an early release and then, she would have helped him to find his way in or more likely, outside Starfleet.

As for his love life, I guess that he would have continued to seduce girl, before maybe to quieten down. But his romance with B'Elena Torres and the conception of Miral would never have existed.
On the other hand, his sincere friendship with Harry Kim would have persisted.

Species 8472 would have wiped out the Borg and caught crazy killing everything. The ocampa would have been enslaved/exterminated by the Kazon, the Vidiians would continue to suffer,

On a more personal note the Maquis would have been arrested or killed, exploration of the Delta Quadrant wouldn't have happened, Gegen wouldn't have had any proof of his distant origin theory.

Oh and I forgot Species 8472 would have killed everything.

I imagine a way would be found to get the crews to join forces for a 7 year mission. Maybe Chakotay's crew aren't maquis, or maybe THEY are the undercover agents. I don't know...

I always liked Stadi. I would like to think that she would be a great counter balance for Paris who came on as some sort of special observer for the duration. A friendly yet romantic rivalry would ensue. Paris/B'Ellana would never happen tho.

I never really understood why Janeway chose Cavit. He seemed like a real snooze fest. Maybe that was the point. I don't know. Probably written off forever after the pilot - see The Golden Girls housekeeper.

And, of course, we would then have "doctor" episodes where the eccentric holographic EMH is called upon to save the day.

    Fun topic :)

The doctor would never have evolved sentience had he not been put under such circumstances, Cavit wasn't mentioned after the Pilot was he?

Yes they were engaged, in fact a big deal was made when they got contact back with Starfleet that Mark wasn't gonna wait. Janeway even says she couldn't expect him to wait.

    Alright. You were serious.
    No shit, Sherlock!

The "Janeway/Cavit shippers" is just one of the silly ideas with all that shipper shit out there. Be prepared to deal with Guy Gardener though

There's no way we'd know how things would turn out. I got the imperssion Mark had a job that required him to stay behind on Earthside. I don't think Janeway was expecting a starship command when they first got engaged but once she got a starship, she probably would end up going on scientific expeditions like she used to do aboard Owen Paris' ship.

Engaged...yes. But they didn't make a deal out of it. Mark waited for a long time. He apparently eventually got together with someone at his place of employment. And Janeway said she wasn't surprised and there was nothing she could do it about it. Not to mention about two years would pass before they got in touch with Starfleet again...

In Caretaker it's established Tom was only supposed to help track down Chakotay's ship in exchange for a good word at his next parole hearing.
You are right that in Relativity Janeway specifically asks Admiral Patterson to have Tom serve as Voyager's pilot. Most likely the writers of Relativity forgot the details of his release, the episode also has the Doctor being activated while the ship is at Utopia Planitia despite references throughout the series establishing he'd never been activated before the ship arrived in the Delta Quadrant, and Lt. Carey is trying to get a bit too friendly with Seven despite the fact he's married and his kids. But if one were inclined to rationalize it, it can be done easily as when Janeway proposed the idea to Patterson it was to have Tom as Voyager's helmsman, with a full pardon but Patterson would only agree to have him along as an observer, and only to put a good word in at his next parole hearing.
Well, in Non Sequitor he's been released from prison five months later, despite the fact he got into a fight on DS9 which landed him in the brig and unable to help Voyager out.
