guess who's directing The Foundation movies?

Well, if one is transferring the books right to film then they aren't all that hard to direct. There's little action and little characterization. Just point and shoot, really.

I can't wait for the Mule's attack on Terminus, including a slo-mo visual of the Seldon Chamber being blown apart from a massive orbital strike, Independence Day style. ;)

:(:(

Well.. for every Dark Knight we get something in return from the opposite end.

I'm not saying Emmerich is in the vicinity of Uwe Boll (i enjoyed Stargate and Independence Day for what they were) but the Foundation Series is an outstanding book series and i doubt it suits the "epic" style filmmaking of Emmerich, Bay and consorts.

Foundation on the big screen...noooooooo....Roland Emmerich directing? That's it, that's the 7th seal of Revelations.

Oh. No. Say it ain't so.

Crap. Will we ever get more than one decent Asimov adaptation?

What was the first?
Personally, I would say Bicentennial Man (before you throw rocks, I said "decent" not "outstanding"), but it's been a while since I've seen it; liked it well enough when I did, though. I know it's not a popular opinion.

Actually, I agree with you on that one. I forgot about it. I always think of I Robot first, and as I recall, that wasn't a decent adapation.

The best part:
The emergence of Sony and Emmerich at the controls of "Foundation" is a surprise development, and one that owes at least a bit to the animosity between Warner Bros. and Fox over "Watchmen."
That dumb fight fraks up TWO movies! :rommie:

Yes, I'm sure making a faithful adaptation is a big priority to him.

^ Oh yeah, I think there were at least one or two through the trilogy.

Erm.

Well, they were good ones, at least?

This is definitely an "out of left field" choice. I wouldn't have placed him on the top 10 list myself. Oddly, I think his style could work for "Foundation" on a visual level. While there aren't a lot of 'splosions, the "Foundation" universe is full of scifi imagery, big cities, spaceships etc. I just hope he lets someone else write a good adaptation and then just shoots the darn thing. ;)
