Guess the movie from the deleted line.....

Green

Commander
Red Shirt
I love the trivia. Not sure if other people do, but at any rate I'll give it a try.

Someone quotes a line that was deleted from any movie and people try to guess the movie it came from.

If it's fairly hard and the character is a regular you can name the character whose line was deleted.
If it's a character that only appeared once -- well, then you can't name the speaker!

They can range from impossible (a ten) or ridiculously easy (a one)

For example: "I Khan Noonian Singh, the eagle you attempted to cage forever!" --that's a one and...

"Yes, sir" -- that would be an eleven.

I have very, very good knowledge from Treks 1-6, decent for 7-10 and little from 11-13.

I'll stat with ones from memory and if it comes to a certain point I will do research. The quotes are from memory so they won't be 100% accurate -- but they should be close enough to prevent problems.

I'll stat with a handful.....

_______ -- "Sure, whatever games you want to play." -----------very hard.

_______ -- "Thank you sir, I've been looking forward to that for a long time. --------moderate.

_______ -- "I liked him better before he died!" ---------tricky

_______ -- " Would you spend the years in a blaze of hatred as you are now? Or could you change? Could you try to remember a mother's touch you never felt?" ----- moderate

_______ --"No more teams to the bridge!" ------- hard

______ -- "Do you think he's really out there?" ------------hard

So, there it is if anyone's interested. If you know any feel free to post them. You can research tham as well and post them. But please limit it to late or final drafts of produced movies -- not really early drafts or movies that never got made.

_______ -- "I liked him better before he died!" ---------tricky

Star Trek VI TUC? Surely McCoy?

But that was not a deleted line from TTF..and since the OP said that one was "tricky", I'll go ahead and guess it was a deleted line from TVH, only to be used in the next movie. That, or it was indeed a trick question.

Correct! That line was deleted from TVH, but was good enough (IMO) that they revisited it in TFF. And yes, McCoy both times.

A few more....

"We were framed!"

"A plague upon you all!"

"I didn't expect to die my first day on the job."

"Are you planning to shave today?"

"A most logical choice, captain." Spock of course -- but...from....where?

I know these are hard, but I just love a lot of these lines.

Ah. I misunderstood the brief.

If I'm allowed to guess more than one...

"Thank you sir, I've been looking forward to that for a long time."
The shuttlecraft scene in TWOK, Sulu talking about his promotion to Captain.

"Are you planning to shave today?"
Kirk to McCoy at the beginning of TSFS, when McCoy is dealing with Spock's Katra. It was used in the DC comic book adaptation.

"A most logical choice, captain."
Spock at the end of TMP, in response to Kirk's "Out there... Thataway." This was also used in the Marvel Comics adaptation.

Correct, correct and correct. Nothing too obscure for a Trek fan. JonnyQuest and correct as well FormerLurker.

That leaves.......

"We were framed!"

"I didn't expect to die my first day on the job"

"Sure, whatever games you want to play."

"Do you think he's really out there?"

NEW: "Why isn't this man prepped?"

I'll give the answers to the old ones tomorrow if not answered by then.

"Excuse me, I'm on medication."
I'm thinking this was McCoy in the bar scene in TSFS, maybe? After he says, "To order poison in a bar is not logical"? My gut is telling me that this line was also featured in the comic book adaptation, which I read a lot as a kid (It was a long time before I got this movie on DVD).

"No more teams to the bridge!"
Kirk at some point in TMP?

Right, from TMP, Chekov after a security guard was killer by the probe in a cut scene.
And exactly on the McCoy line from Search. Immediately after he says the line you quoted.

Yeah, I had that comic too. Lot of good stuff cut from TSFS. Why did it need t be 1 hr 45 min?

With credits and reprised scenes and lines -- it's about 90 minutes of new material. I can see cutting the Saavik/David scenes down, but all the main cast stuff that was cut....

The studio probably still had Star Wars on the brain. If it wasn't SFX, it wasn't necessary to the film, so cut it.:brickwall:

Yeah, in a movie that used and re-used the phase -- "climb the steps of Mt.Selaya." -- they cut the little portion where they actually climb the steps! LOL

TSFS was restructured a bit in the editing. It originally opened with the Grissom going to Genesis, but then they put the Enterprise scenes first and added in a new beginning to Kirk's opening log entry.

Well more than a bit. They rearranged the entire film up to the point where Enterprise is on the way to Genesis. All the Grissom/David & Saavik scenes were massively shortened, combined together and shoved much later in the narrative.
When written it was supposed to be the payoff from the introduction of David and Saavik from the last movie. They thought Butrick and Alley could carry the movie's first half. Then they didn't get Alley and Nimoy directed Curtis as an automaton and Butrick realizing that his stint as David was coming to a quick and ignominious end -- pretty much played David as a weakling. Whatever you say about his performance in TWOK -- Meyer directed him to be strong and assured.
So the editing played the Grissom arc as just a sidebar to get the ball rolling for SPOCKS RETURN!!!

The answers....

"We were framed!" -- McCoy, TUC

"I didn't expect to die my first day on the job" -- Harriman, Generations

"Sure, whatever games you want to play." -- freighter captain, TSFS

"Do you think he's really out there?" -- McCoy, TFF
"Why isn't this man prepped?" -- doctor, TVH
