The other huge piece of the puzzle, as I noted, is that there is no free Blu-ray playback software that can be put onto a machine -- it's not like 15 years ago, when everything shipped with some flavor of PowerDVD or whatever. And this is intentional, because the television / movie industry can't afford a second coming of DeCSS. A major factor behind DVD drive adoption in computers was the ability to play movies from them, and there will most likely never be a free playback software for the Blu-ray Disc format.
