Green Power Ranger Wanted for Assault

I don't know why this deserves its own thread (we have a Power Rangers/General Tokusatsu thread) but just an FYI, for those who can't or won't read the article, its the guy who played the Green Samurai Ranger in Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai who did the alleged assault. Apparently, from what I've read online, he has a history of bad behavior that has actually gotten him banned from some conventions, so I guess its not that big of a shock.

Also, I don't know why you'd connect this to JDF's death or even bring him up. There are over 100 people who have played Power Rangers, not even counting supporting characters, and the fact that only a small handful have done publicly shitty stuff means that Power Rangers Alumni have a pretty decent track record.

I thought the Hasbro thread only covered the toys.

I didn't want to stick my nose where it didn't belong.

Fair enough. The "Hasbro's Power Rangers era and General Tokusatsu discussion" thread is generally used as a catch all for all the Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Kamen Rider/similar show news and discussion. Its not a big deal, it just kind of surprised me to see this get its own thread.

Maybe because it's been such a long running franchise, but this is unfortunately far from the first Power Rangers actor to be accused of a heinous crime.

I mean, like I said before with over 100 power rangers and many supporting characters the PR franchise has relatively few examples of actors who are (at least publicly) criminals or a-holes. Off the top of my head:

Wildforce Red/Dekker:
Manslaughter
Ninja Storm Red: Domestic Abuse (before his suicide)
OO Black: Stole a charity item (he disputes this, but more seems to be against him then for him and its definitely kept him off most conventions/etc)
MMPR Jason: Covid PPP loan scammer
RPM Black: Domestic Abuse (I only heard about this recently, unsure about details but it definitely happened)
Samurai Green: Beat up an old man

A few Rangers also have had non-criminal things that make them a-holes but not criminals, but even then its not a huge number (the Triplets who played Trey/Zeo Gold are apparently pricks, JDF posted Anti-LGBTQ stuff before his death, the guy who played the Blue Turbo Ranger has said some nasty stuff, etc).

If you want to go into the side cast then the guy who played Grumm in SPD and Mentor Ji in Samurai was convicted of six counts of indecent assault on six women.

Put altogether it looks like a lot, but again the show had been on the air the majority of the time between 1993 and 2023 and had over 100 people who have played Rangers and even more have played supporting cast, recurring characters, one off characters, etc., so the actual percentage of criminals/a-holes to normal people is still fairly small. I'd say any group of random people of the same number would probably have similar numbers, if not higher, just by random chance.

Austin St. John also recently pissed some people, including Amy Jo Johnson, when he recently started promoting a new clothing line that includes shirts with Hitler quotes on them. Apparently, he's not a Nazi or anything like that, the idea of the shirts is that they have quotes from significant people in history both good and bad on them, but it still doesn't look good to be selling Hitler shirts.

Oh yeah, I knew about that, but since I already had Austin on my list for the PPP scam I figured that was good enough, but the Hitler quote thing really is shitty. Also, if someone is even considering putting Hitler quotes on a shirt then they're more of a Nazi then they might think, its the same concept of "If you willingly sit at a table with 5 Nazis, there are 6 Nazis at the table" type of thing.
