It looks like Warner Bros has confirmed the release date for Green Lantern, to be directed by Martin Campbell. The film has been scheduled for a December 17th, 2010 release date.
I was expecting a summer release, but a December release is interesting. Has there ever been a big comic-book movie to open in December? Perhaps WB is banking on the fact that their Harry Potter franchise did so well around that time? Then again, Potter has a huge following and built-in fanbase. GL does not (sorta).
I think there is a possibility WB might eventually bump this into summer 2011, but who knows.
Anyway, finally, some real progress! A script, a director, and a release date. Sounds good so far.
