On the way they encounter some aliens, I forget how their race is spelled, but they are kind of plant people (they were in the Buried Age too), and time is taken up negotiating passage through their space.

The Mabrae. I personally was pleased to see them again, and to get some fresh insights into their cultural psychology.

This book is amazing.
A pure character-driven story, an intelligent theme that pervade the entire novel and beautiful writing: the ingredients for a masterpiece. I've not liked that much Bennett's previous Titan book, but this one deliver on all fronts. Really a great job!
Now I'm hyped for Destiny, hope that doesn't disappoint...

Well, there is the original review thread from 2008 without a poll, I guess theoretically @trampledamage could add a poll to that thread and change the title to include "Review Thread", so it triggers @Sho 's list to include it. But since there already is a review thread it wouldn't make sense to create a new one just for the sake of a poll in my opinion.
