great new STARCRAFT 2 battle report

I'll wait on an HD download.

Odd that it's not up on the website. The forums are being spammed so they're of no use either.

You're right it isn't on the website. I suspect the video has been leaked, and we're not supposed to have it yet. So I've withdrawn the link I found to download the HD version. :p

The game looks like it's coming along pretty nicely. The Protoss always were my favorite race to play as, and it looks like they'll still be fun to use.

It sure is an auto-buy from me just because it has Blizzard on it (except for WOW) but i fear my days are over playing competitively over the net.

I just don't have the time to "train" and get to know every nuance my troops have but knowing Blizzard it'll have a kickass Single Player mode and i'll just have to enjoy being kicked around by people half my age when i occasionally play online ;)

Fun videos. I doubt I'll have the patience to actually learn all the units enough to play Starcraft II at all well (probably won't even get the game), but I do enjoy watching these battle reports. I can understand why it gets good viewing figures in Korea. :D

The use of those Protoss forcefields for both offence and defence was clever & fun.

I can imagine that the release day for SC2 would be the perfect day for North Korea to invade the South.. nobody will notice it because they'll all be playing the game

Great stuff. The highlights for me were the use of the Nullifier shields to create terrain obstacles, the Phoenix/Void Ray combo against the Queen, the Zerglings luring the Protoss assault force into range of the burrowed Banelings, and the shield effects on the Colossus as the Zerglings swarmed it. :techman:

I lol'ed heavily when the Protoss player advanced with the Collossus which he spent so much ressources and time on only to have the Zerg player take it over and annihilate the Protoss assault force :guffaw::guffaw:

By that time the game was still going to the Protoss player but that was ownage at its best! :techman::lol:

I thought that gave quite an unfair advantage. The protoss tend to have fewer units than other races because they are individually so much stronger, so the mind control ability is so much more effective against that race because it steals something far more powerful and directs that power back at the original owner -- especially true when it can be used to steal a heavy assault unit like the collossus.

Well.. the game is still in development and i believe there's much finetuning to be done. Knowing Blizzard the game will be quite well balanced from the go so i can only assume that they'll look into Protoss vs. Zerg tactics and decide if it's an advantage the Zerg have to have against Protoss or if they need to tone it down or change it.

I thought that was true as well. The Protoss had a similar ability in Brood War, but it was expensive and time consuming to require, and the units of other races were weaker than Protoss units.

Giving the Zerg the ability seems kind of cheap.
