Because Chem didn't start one, for whatever reason.

"When Fluttershy becomes tired of getting pushed around for too long, she decides to gets some assertiveness training from Iron Will, in which causes her to transform her unsure ways."

Anyway, good episode. Good use of Pinkie Pie and Rarity, nice gags (with some great Loony Tunes callbacks), and New Fluttershy was hilarious. I've been at work all morning so I missed the teaser but, eh. I'll catch it on YouTube.

It's all right, Chem. I understand. Stuff happens.

And I give the episode an A... with a reservation. Pinkie needs to do the reverse psychology with her confetti cannon.

Great episode! Gave it an A. It wasn't long enough, IMO. I'll wait on commenting further since most Bronies probably haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Also, Chem, we love ya!

Derpy was in the market scene (supposedly with muffin-marked saddlebags, if the EqD comments are to be believed). So our wall-eyed mailmare lives.

I thought New Fluttershy telling off Rarity and pinkie was amazing. She said a lot of the things I think many of us have known about them, but the show has never acknowledged before. It's great that the show has enough creative freedom to allow that much conflict.

Ok episode. Great FS and Pinkie.

No Derpy at all? Coincidence? :(

I have the HD episode downloaded there now but it's getting late, so I'll watch and post tomorrow.

I thought it was meh. I found it was a little pointless and forced though there were some good scenes. I did like the fact that we got a minotaur and goats as citizens of Equestria but I felt Iron Will gave in too easily. He didn't even demand an explanation of why Fluttershy wasn't satisfied. Pinkie and Rarity felt a little off to me, too. The depiction of Ponyville being full of mean and even violent bullies bugged me more than it should.

I think we were supposed to see it from Fluttershy's perspective. The ponies aren't so much mean as they are inconsiderate or unaware, much like our own society (at least around here) is today. People aren't purposely mean or rude, but it happens, and they are whether they know it or not, and for a soft heart like Fluttershy (I can relate, I really can), it's a cold and inhospitable environment.

For example, I like to smile and greet people when opening doors, or getting in line, and so on, and rarely do I get any feedback from it. It's not because I'm disliked, it's because those people aren't aware that they're putting out signals that are abrasive. Fluttershy learns this lesson in the episode herself, thinking only that she was being assertive, when she was, in fact, being rude and abusive. It all ties in rather neatly.

There's also the issue that this is not a representative sample of all the ponies in Ponyville. No episode ever is; the constraints of storytelling mean they only show us what relates to the story. It's an episode about Fluttershy learning to deal with jerks; therefore, we see all the times she runs afoul of jerks. If this were real life, she'd be encountering these ponies all the time and we'd never have seen it because it wasn't relevant to the other episodes. (Conversely, no reason she couldn't have met nice ponies as well, but again, they wouldn't include that this time because we don't need to see it.)

It would be like claiming ponies never needed to use a restroom before "The Last Roundup" and that Pinkie spontaneously developed a biological need for one time we ever saw it. It makes no sense.

Good point. It's another example of storytelling shorthand, to use these devices as an aggregate rather than a day to day sampling.

I just think that sometimes, the writers overdo it in their effort to show one aspect of the world and it ends up feeling like a parody to me. It isn't the first time it happened in the show. But mainly, this episode didn't really connect with me. Too bad because I really like Fluttershy but we'll be getting another episode centered around her which I might enjoy more later this season.
I think this is the first C for me since "Feeling Pinkie Keen" so I'm fine.
