Gossip Girl reimagined as a slasher horror

I've never had much time for Gossip Girl, but I'm gonna pick this one up. Cecily von Ziegesar has gone back and rewritten her first Gossip Girl novel. Only she decided to make it a little ... different.

It's now called Gossip Girl: Psycho Killer.

There's an article about it in this week's Entertainment Weekly (the issue with The Avengers on the cover). I remember hearing something about this but I thought it was a joke or urban legend, but it's real.

I gotta give the author props for going for the weird. I suppose she probably did it so no one else would, but still. Next we'll have JK Rowling rewriting a Harry Potter novel and making everyone robots or something...

As someone who watches Gossip Girl and slashers, I suppose this is something I should be checking out. But looking at the Amazon page, it says it's for young adults. I would much rather it be along the lines of Bret Easton Ellis. But it's a weird enough thing (author rewrites own book and changes into a slasher) that I'll probably give it a shot.
