The long-neglected Nintendo NES gets its due.

After you watch the clip, be sure to try it out. Take a look at Tokyo, New York, etc....

I tried this, thought it was fantastic, and made me miss video games of old, from Atari, to Nintendo, to even the Sega Genesis.

Agreed. If this wasn't so damned amusing, I'd wonder what the hell Google was paying their employees for. But this is just so fun!

Same. Can't play the video... but the idea is pretty funny . Love their other one too... the whole self-driving car for Nascar. Priceless :p.

IIRC, re: the bit I've bolded, Google - and some other companies (mainly tech-oriented ones) - allocate a certain percentage of their employees' hours for them to pursue their own pet projects rather than company projects. I think it's something like 10%, but am not sure.

The idea is that it's basically highly subsidised seed R&D work for Google, done by existing employees (so they keep the IP rights to anything developed). Of course, it also means a lot of the projects are fun/frivolous like this video, but they only need a few to be profitable for it to be worthwhile.

EDIT - just looked it up: it's actually 20%, not 10%, at Google. Most other firms that do this, it's 10%.
