Good reason Why 1-2 books a month is a good thing

I always think it is so strange when people talk about having huge backlogs of books lying around, whenever I get a new one I start reading it immediately! Not saying it is wrong, just not my style.
Priority One: finish the bloody thesis!
Priority Two: there isn't one, everything else can be done after you get your degree.

So, now I have 5 years' worth of backlogs of books, out of which I've read about half a dozen in the last 5 years.

So I'm the ONLY one who doesn't have a huge backlog of books?? Money is pretty tight for me, I can usually only afford one book a week. My local library will only let you take out a couple of books at at time..that is a big part of it.

I dream of having cyclopean towers of unread books surrounding me, you people are living the good life!

My backlog is retarted. Not only do I need to read the rest of the TNG re-launch from Q&A on, I need to read all of Titan, then Destiny, then maybe I'll get to the DS9-R from Gateways on. Plus all the other stuff I read, it seems when I get caught up and stop reading there is a ton of stuff that comes out and I've got to go buy them all and start again with the backlog.

I'm just glad I've got 5 Half Prices Bookstores in my area, and the used books on amazon are a good place to get stuff cheap as well. I can't seem to go to a library to check them out, I don't want to return them, I've got 6 bookshelves of books filled, I'm 30, can't imagine how many I'll have by the time I'm 40. Good stuff for my kid to read when he gets older though. Just as long as he doesn't destroy them. I'm OCD when it comes to the condition of my books.

Oh, I wouldn't have time to read one book a week anymore. It's closer to 3-4 books all at once every couple of months.

Doesn't stop me from picking up 5-6 books every time I'm in proximity to a bookstore, though. Hence the backlog.

Well, I currently have a ile of of 452 unread books, 217 of them Trek....
But I guess instead of "Pile" you also use "Mountain"....

So, I agree, 1 or 2 Trek-books a month is quite a good schedule, There is so much good Scifi outside the Tie-in-Universes, it would be shame to restrict yourself to just Trek.

Agreed 100%, there's so much good fiction out there, even non-fiction, that the 1-2 books makes it easier. I just bought another 5 books today, but will get around to them later, 4 of them Trek...actually found Mission Gamma 3 and 4 at Half Price books, so I got them for $7 total
