Looking for suggestions on good novels that take place during the series preferably DS9 but also TNG.

There's already a TNG thread or two elsewhere with all the in-series recommendations you could ever need.
As for DS9, I can't remember the names, but I much preferred the early novels to the early episodes. The only names I remember for early DS9's are The Seige, Fallen Heroes and Devil in the Sky.
The 34th Rule, A Stitch in Time and the Millenium trilogy are all amazing essential reads.

Fallen Heroes is a great early DS9 novel. In fact, it was the first Trek book I ever read.
