Gold star episodes

Refuge

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I was thinking about episodes that I've seen before and just hang out for those moments. The star moments. There are many! What comes to mind is Suder. Twisted Suder with those manic, tortured eyes.

'Basics' one and two. Was like a bad dream where you want to get somewhere but you can't. To have the crew removed from Voyager by the Kazon and dreadful Seska was both humiliating and desperate. Yet I watch to see Suder be a hero. Listen as Tuvok recognizes his sacrifice and wishes him peace. Some actors have presence.

I will make a better list later but the very first thing that comes to mind is Tuvix pleading for his life.

That is a confronting moment with Tuvix. For me I missed Tuvok and Neelix. Tuvix and his lingering eyes for Kes bothered me. Yet when he refused to give up his individuality it was a major guilt trip.

Great dramatic moments....
Seven alone loosing her mind in One

Neelix on the transporter pad wanting to end his life in Mortal Coil

B'Elanna and Tom arguing about her altering their baby in Lineage

The Doctor's daughter dying in Real Life

One of Voyager's best moments, possibly Voyager's finest moment is in "The 37's" when Janeway and Chakotay are going to the Cargo Bay where they are going to say goodbye to the crewmebers who had decided to remain on the planet and there's no one there! :techman:

That is a great moment. But I've always wondered about that. To me it seems like nobody wanted to stay because they were still early in their journey and were still very hopeful about finding a shortcut home. If the same opportunity to stay behind came about a few years later after encountering dangerous aliens, and suffering hardships and casualties i wonder if some people would have chosen to stay behind.

"MANEUVERS" was a highlight for me. I liked the cat and mouse game between Voyager, Chakotay in particular, and Seska. Reminded me of TOS' "BALANCE OF TERROR" a bit.

Rather than the ultra shock value of Earth people on the opposite side of the galaxy, I agree, let he'll break loose awhile then encounter Earhart and see how they feel then. Much more fascinating to speculate especially with no budget to see those cities.

And "DEATH WISH"... that entire episode was a great.

I was aurprised that Hallmark didn't use the ship as a Christmas ornament for that year... Hallmark did a ship or two every Christmas season. I always got them.

(They eventually did make the Voyager ornament a couple years later.)

Personally, I thought Gotana-retz as an old man watching Voyager leave orbit was a memorable gold star, who is cutting onions moment for me.
I've always liked when he and his fellow astronaut first boarded Voyager and saw (from their perspective) the crew frozen in time.

This reminds me of an actual goodbye, that of Neelix. The entire crew lined up in the hallways en route to his shuttle to honour the man that served them in the mess hall for 7 years, all senior staff at the end. Tuvok's voluntary little 'dance'- however restrained- to honour Neelix, after Neelix declaring it his mission to make Tuvok do so at least once before reaching earth.

I really enjoy "Once Upon A Time" and how it portrays what the challenges and struggles a child on a Starfleet vessel might face. Neelix has a strong showing, too.

"Waking Moments" is an episode I always enjoy. The aliens kind of freak me out and Chakotay with his lucid dreaming bit I quite enjoy. I think it's one of Chakotay's best.

There were some great, albeit heated, debates about Tuvix. Probably the most controversial episode of all. So important. I can see both sides of the argument. It's a very, very tough call. I feel tempted to dive into it, but not the right venue here.

The episode aired February 19, 1996 and the Voyager ornament came out December of '96.
