Going Camping!!!

After dealing with ongoing medical problems I'm leaving tomorrow early in the morning to go camping for the first time in three years! We're leaving as I said Sunday morning and coming back Thursday afternoon. Looking forward to it. Planning on swimming a ton and relaxing most of the time. Read and write. Play some poker! Roughing it a bit food wise as I'm planning on bringing a few snacks but gonna mostly eat Hot Dogs!! Will let you guys know how it went when I get back. Any of you planning trips or have already gone on them yet?

I am so jealous! Nothing like getting away from everything, cooking over an open fire, catching your food for the night... Wonderful!

Just spent a week camping in the Canadian Maritimes. We had an amazing time.

Here we are on top of a cliff on Grand Manan island. Water was about 150 feet below us according to the highly scientific 'drop a rock and count how long until it splashes' method. s(t) = Vo*t + 1/2*a*t^2 baby!

Naturally, this was the time my dogs needed to be leashed up the most, so they don't take a header off the cliff. And naturally, this was the time my huge Lab got scared being leashed to a tree and snapped his collar. It's a lot of fun trying to find a collar on a remote island at 8 PM on a Sunday night. I used the rope we brought for a clothesline and made a makeshift harness out of it. Not pretty, but I still have as many dogs as I brought.

Enjoy your trip, there's nothing I like more than the great outdoors.

We're going to a place called Mable Lake which is near Vernon here in British Columbia, a place we've not gone before. Unfortunately I'll not be sharing the tent with anyone special lol.

It's been a long time since I've been properly camping, sadly. Being a student makes it tough. :(

(Proper for me = stuffing my gear in a canoe and heading off into the backwoods of Canada)

Hope you have fun!

I haven't done anything resembling camping in many a year, but I do love to get out to the woods whenever possible.

Have a great time, AY. It's great that your medical problems have resolved to the point where you can do this. :bolian:

So long as the camp site has a shower and bathrooms that aren't outhouses, i'm ok. I'd just rather not go camping.

I don't mind if it has pit toilets, but showers are definitely preferred. If it's just an overnight, I don't care and I'll clean up when I get home. But if I'm going for multiple nights, I like to take one, you get pretty ripe camping.

Yeah, but nobody cares when all your companions smell the same way. Plus, that's what lakes are for!
