Does anyone else hate that woman? The reason she left was because she got frustrated her character wasnt given more stuff to do, so she left to try and build a film career. Then she failed miserably and then magically Star Trek didnt seem so bad!

I saw her on 'Trekkies' and she was always going on about how great it was to be part of trek and have been in Yesterday Enterprise, which she constantly calls the best episode. I liked YE, but I didnt like it because of Denise Crosby, they could have gotten another actress and it wouldnt have made watched that episode any worse.

Anyone else feel like that, cos I really, really hate her.

In reply to the op, I don't think she's done anything really wrong, there was enough wrong with Trekkies as is, the fact that they got Denise in to me syays more about the other actors with higher work loads turning down the job.

Well, as someone who has worked closely with Denise on our "Blood and Fire" episode, I can tell you she is delightful, selfless, outgoing, and enthusiastic and I consider her a friend. Please be careful about throwing around insulting comments. These are real people who have real friends who frequent these boards--if they don't actually frequent the boards themselves.

Thats wrong. I addressed ligitimate reasons and then I asked everyone else what they thought. I dont see any difference in making negative remarks about an actress and negative remarks about a show.

Well, for starters tv shows are not people; actors are. Beside that, your complaints weren't about the way she portrayed Yar (which would be a fair criticism, even if people would disagree with you), but on her behaviour as a person. As for "really, really hating" someone just because she left the show, well, it speaks quite loudly about the legitimacy of your complaints.

Its because she left and then kept coming back. Tv shows are made by people, if you insult the show you insult the person. Actors are people who are in the public eye and have to accept being judged because of that.

Strange, this thread would already be locked to death had the OP said he hates Chase Masterson and that she needs to go away.

Probably not actually, since this one hasn't been, and they're both breaking the same rule.

More likely that the moderators aren't hanging around to deal with idiots on the weekend.

Go away, Tina Fey! You leave Saturday Night Live to try and do something better and then you keep showing up on Saturday Night Live again! What's that about? I really, really hate you!

Wasnt Tina Fey the head writer on that show for like ten years? I dont think its really the same.

I think when someone leaves a project because shes frustrated, and then comes back when it gains popularity, it shows kind of a lack of integrity. What annoys me about her in Trekkies is that shes going on and on about how great it is to be part of the Trek culture, but she'd already turned her back on it and was now returning after the success of TNG. I guess you could say thats a career decision, and perhaps fair enough considering how badly developed her character was. Im not saying Denise Crosby is a bad person, but everytime she pops up again I just think 'Dammit, you already left the show. Go away.' I dont think its wrong to bring that up here because it was a public career decision, Im not attacking her private life, and it wasnt just a blunt attack, I gave my reasons and asked what everyone else felt. I didnt think it would be against the rules, because:

"It's fine to say a certain aspect of Star Trek is bad, as long as you don't insult the people who think otherwise, and as long as you actually back up what you say. Jumping in and shouting "Kirk sucks!" is not an acceptable form of constructive criticism"

I bet the writers visit this site a lot more than the actors do, but nobody bats an eyelid when someone bad mouths an episode. Maybe a couple of people who replied should reread this bit: 'don't insult people who think otherwise'.

I asked if anyone felt the same about her reappearances and a fair share of what i got were off topic insults.

First time I ever posted on the Dark Side here, being a TOS kind of being, but what the heck....

Seems to me Denise has shown herself to be a pretty stand-up actor, as well as Trek appreciator, and I like her (as a fan).

Her character was hampered by all that awful writing that went on during S1-S2 of TNG. I mean, actually read what the writers put in that poor actor's mouth. I don't blame her a bit for wanting to get away.

As for YE, in my opinion as a distanced but observing fan of the franchise, it was an outstanding episode of TNG and a very good piece of work for her as an actor. I remember when I first saw it, saying to myself, "damn, she's good"...especially the scenes with her Castillo, which required some thespian heft.

I see where the OP was going, but I could say the same thing about most of those humps, except Stewart, during the first two seasons.

So I say heap the sh*t on Maury Hurley and his team of no-talents and let Denise be.
