GLOW Renewed on Netflix

When I saw the thread title I thought the thread was about someone paying for an additional month of the service.

Well, if folks are that interested then I'll gladly keep them updated.

Meanwhile, Black Panther debuts on Netflix September 4th and Iron Fist season 2 drops Sept. 7th.

Probably already talked to death, but what did folks here think about the Lost In Space reboot?

I absolutely loved it! I had really become jaded regarding "reboots" as I believe the overwhelming majority of them do NOT work. The new Lost in Space definitely worked. I enjoyed the new roguish interpretation of Don West. The way they split the leadership between Maureen and John Robinson was excellent. I do think they've written themselves into a corner with Parker Posey's Dr. Smith though. Posey is a wonderful actor, however, a full on psychotic Doctor Smith becomes hard to justify. Why would the Robinson's keep her around? I loved how season 1 ended and thought it had what Star Trek Voyager should have incorporated more of. Anyway, a solid "A" grade from me.

I felt that it was the best reboot of anything we'd seen in years, to the point that I feel it should be used as an example on how to do a reboot right. It had immense respect for its source material. It changed things in a reasonable fashion in respect to changing times and essentially used modern technology to reimagine visuals. The cinematography is easily one of the best parts of the show and is absolutely gorgeous. They're actually showing us a strange new world and it makes me look forward to seeing what they show us in season 2.

Hurry for GLOW! My favorite series going today.

Lost in Space was uneven but I like where they ended it and feel like S1 maybe was just a setup for a much better S2. There's always hope. Love Penny and Don West, would watch just for those two snarksters. Not sold on Dr. Smith yet, but maybe her character just hasn't jelled. She's not a simplistic character and those can be tricky.

Agree totally!

I kind of disagree that it was uneven. Some episodes were more action. Some more expository. So yeah, it modulated its tempo but that has been the norm for these series of 13 episodes or less. I agree it left off perfectly.

I also agree with your opinion on Dr. Smith. I think the writers have written themselves into a corner with her. This series is more reality than the original therefore the family keeping someone who so deranged and a blatant threat to their existence at all times doesn't make sense. Of course, we don't know the true fate of the real Dr. Zachery Smith so it would be a real thrill if they swapped out Parker Posey's incarnation for Bill Mumy.

For the record, Parker Posey is an awesome actress and I love her collaborations with Christopher Guest. Again, it just doesn't seem reasonable for the Robinson family to allow her to stick around.

BTW, L-O-V-E your screenname "Skulkin' Vulcan". Not that it matters or counts for anything, but "A+" from me.

It's a wonderful show, with all the main characters having multiple shades of grey to them.

It's also very funny, rather touching and unabashedly filled with strong women with strong messages - which is exactly what a show detailing the creation of a T&A "extravaganza" needs.

I came for Allison Brie and stayed for them all. Very much looking forward to seeing their exploits in Vegas next year

Hugo - plus it introduced me to Marc Maron who plays a great not-quite-villain
