Give Bill Blackburn A Voice...

Spock's Barber

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Bill Blackburn was a regular background actor throughout most of TOS' 3 seasons, but he never spoke. Now's your chance....pick an episode and give him something interesting to say.

I was thinking more in terms of what his voice would sound like. Wouldn't it be interesting if he sounded like, say, the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz?

Mirror, Mirror. He is the Agony Booth operator.....

"Captain, Chekov has been removed from the Booth. He is still alive but unconscious. All systems are still functional and ready for the next crewman, sir."

I just watched "Return to Tomorrow" the other day, in which he plays both the Navigator and the android body that's being built for Thelesa. As a kid I never recognized him in the android role, and it was probably cut for time in '70s syndication anyway, but if you're looking you can't miss him. Still, as a kid I was never sure if they'd used an actor or a really good dummy.

If you put trek blackburn android makeup shot in Google and do an image search, you can see him peeling the latex off his face in one frame, and he's posing for a makeup test in Sickbay in another.

He also played an android in "I, Mudd" (no latex), but the scene didn't make it into the final episode.

One of two polar opposite approaches:
1) David Seville sped up
2) Ted Cassidy

What do you think, Dandy Don?

Isn't there a blooper involving the latex being peeled off of (who I now understand is) Blackburn where someone says to him something along the lines of "so you wanted to be in show business?!" or somesuch? If so, I'm sure there are plenty of things that could be said in response, some of which wouldn't even involve profanity.

He's the navigator in City on the edge of forever and when Sulu's panel explodes he gives a sort of look as if to say, "Do you mind?" :guffaw::rofl:

I sit at a computer workstation at my job, and if they were ever known to explode in people's faces, I would be seeking other employment.
