This is the latest Preston / Child novel, has anyone read it yet? I just finished it. It's actually extremely short and a pretty quick read.
Unfortunately this is NOT a new Pendergast book, it instead introduces a new character Gideon Crew. As such my level of excitement for this was extremely low; while I love these authors I expect Pendergast dammit!
Well, it turned out better than I thought it would be, but it was still a middling effort for them. The premise was alright, the action was alright, but Crew is just not as interesting a character as Pendergast.
The only thing that made me perk up and take interest was the inclusion of Eli Glinn, the character from The Ice Limit. I loved that book and I'm still waiting for the goddamn sequel some twelve years later. And yet again they make a subtle reference for a forthcoming sequel while still not promising any actual development.
It's kinda ridiculous. At the end of that book the very Earth was in danger from the alien seed... and it's been a dozen books and years since then without any mention of planetary peril!
