Once we have an official film title, I'll rename the thread. For now, it's being referred to as Ghostbusters: Firehouse but I suspect that's just the working title.

Anyways, they're filming right now so I figured it's time to start a new thread for it instead of posting more news in the Afterlife review thread. And on that note:

Deadline reports that Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Alyn Lind, and James Acaster have joined the cast along with returning cast members Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Ernie Hudson. Gil Kenan is directing the film while Jason Reitman remains on board as writer and producer.

I'm looking forward to this film especially with McKenna Grace returning. She's the best addition to the franchise since the animated series.

I never expected to see Dickless again! Although I think I saw something about William Atherton wanting to return awhile ago, so not so surprising.

Awesome!

William was great despite being a jerk. I hope they give them some nuance beyond their original stance
To be fair, he is one of the best actors at playing an asshole. He and Ronny Cox are the grand masters of it.

I’m glad to see him back though. I haven’t seen him in anything since Workaholics.

I don't mind entirely mind if he plays the antagonist. I just don't want him to be underdeveloped.

It could be cool to see as part of the GB organization and still retain his difficult personality

Anyone wanna take a guess what the poster could mean? Or if it refers to anything specific? All I got is Mr. Freeze from 'Batman & Robin'.

Yeah, it definitely looks like it's going to be something ice related.

I still haven't seen Afterlife. I have a myriad of subscription services and it's not on any of them. I know. Poor me. LOL

I don't know why, but I find something deeply satisfying about the idea that behind the wall that the original movie containment unit was mounted on, is the containment unit from the cartoon. That's all I got.

Same here. I really need to go back and watch that show again. I loved the hell out of it as a kid.

I think it's all (legitimately) on youtube. I remember dipping into it a bit during lockdown and was surprised at how well it held up (that is rarely the case with revisiting cartoons from my childhood.)
Probably not surprisingly; my biggest nostalgic reaction wasn't from the more notable episodes most people talk about, but the handful of random ones I had managed to record off the TV on VHS as a kid, and thus watched over and over. I can never remember the episode titles, but I think it was the Dopey Dog one, the one with the Doomsday Door thing, the Hole in the Wall Gang one, the one with lots of little Slimers, one that has something to do with a runaway troll or somesuch, and there's this one with a weird ghost baseball match that really stuck in my memory for some reason.

Yes! I loved the ghost baseball match! One of the few episodes I remember specifics about. That one and giant mud/slime/whatever monster that absorbed all of the Ghostbusters (or something) and the one where Smiler goes into containment unit in search of a ghost for some reason or another.

Good to know it's on YouTube. I'll have to look it up.
