German cover for "A Stitch in Time" and 2 Destiny novels

All of those except the comic book have actually been posted on here already.

Yeah, most of them by me, but I think it never hurts to plug 8of5's blog.

It's a really neat place where you can find all the little snippits about the Star Trek novels and comics collected in one place. :)

The comic's cover is interesting. You've got an ENT-style Andorian with the forehead-mounted antennae right next to a TOS-style Andorian with the rear-mounted ones. It implies they're presenting them both as different races of Andorian, which is kind of how I've rationalized the difference to myself.

Yep! John Byrne did this last month, too, in "Leonard McCoy: Frontier Doctor" #1:

Man, the typography on those Destiny books sucks big time. The art is awesome.

Also regarding the two Andorian antenni, I really with they wouldn't try and justify every small thing in the original series as law. I would rather them stick to forehead antenni and leave the ones on the back as a 60s tv show with a small budget way of doing things.

The stitches are all wrong. They're not actual stitches. It's wordplay from a tailor. If he wasn't in such a rush as a kid (if he didn't have so much to deal with) he'd have had a better life as an adult...stitch each one carefully or you'll have to restitch a bunch after you realize your mistake later. The way the cover's now...you'd think he were Q with a giant needle and "cosmic string" sewing together the fabric of outer space after some spatial anomaly literally tore it apart.

I concur on the topography, and the coolness of the art. So good to SEE this world again. :)

The TOS-style one is borrowed from here.

On the other hand, Star Trek has way too much of a tendency to portray entire species as completely uniform in race, culture, language, religion, fashion, etc. It's logical that alien species would have racial variations just as humans do. So it's not about "justifying every small thing." It's about choosing to interpret the difference between onscreen Andorian makeups as evidence of something that should logically be the case, i.e. the existence of different racial groups within the Andorian species.

Yes, and the stitches on the cover are a visual pun on the title. They're not meant to be "actual" stitches either, but a metaphor in images, just as the title is a metaphor in words.

Loved the covers. I honestly think using the image of Nicole with her longer hair for Ezri is better than the older images when she had shorter hair. Would think she changed her hair style alittle since leaving DS9 and then taking command of Aventine.

No one at Pocket or IDW have "justified" anything. The variety of Andorian antennae shape and location are just presented as variations, for fans to either enjoy or not even notice. (Check out the shape, colour and location of the antennae of the many species of Earth insects.)

My thoughts exactly. I'm in love with the Gods of Night cover Ezri :techman:
