For the record he liked it..here's his review from New York Magazine..

"I liked Star Trek growing up and I've seen the new one," Lucas told us, shortly before taking off at warp speed in the opposite direction. "It's good. I liked it." -George Lucas

Not only did he like it, but he is a fan from old.

People were focused on the negative with him saying he would never direct: but, yeah he would never do Star Trek, that's not a diss. He also said he'd never make a prequel.

The president likes it too. And Brad Pitt. If Brad likes it then, well. That's all you need to know.

Why? Its degree of quality notwithstanding, Star Wars is more popular than Trek ever was or will be.

Right or wrong, it's just a fact.

They used ILM, do you think he would say something different? :)

But he could also be a fan, which would be cool.

Positive of negative, why would anyone here give a f#*k about what George Lucas thinks of Star Trek? Lucas did Star Wars, which I liked like lots of people, but he didn't have anything to do with Star Trek. His opinions are not more important than that of Brad Pitt, Obama or any of us. In fact, less important than ours given that we are the trekkies going to see these movies 5 times and buying the DVDs and promotional crap, keeping the franchise alive.

I liked it.

Hmmm, since everyone was dissing the prequels in the other threads should we see this endorsement as an indictment on the quality of Trek XI?

His opinions are not more important than that of Brad Pitt,

Tell that to the readers of Reveal, or Closer or any of the celebrity stalker magazines. Brad Pitt going to see the film has probably added an extra few thousand vapid celebrophiles to its audience.

Well, that will be remembered in History as the plague of the 21st century, next to reality tv. Star Trek is far beyond that.

Okay, great: George likes it. He thinks it's good (but he doesn't seem to have elaborated.) He's not going to direct a Star Trek movie, either, which I'm pretty sure we've heard before.

Beyond that, I'm not seeing a great deal of topic for discussion here, nor is there a link to the source article, and the thread is turning spammier by the minute. Why don't I just close it now?
