George Lucas on a Fifth Indiana Jones

Maybe Paramount can merge two franchises.

Indiana Jones and the Battle For Cybertron
Indiana Jones and the Search For Spock
Indiana Jones and the Impossible Missions Force
Indiana Jones and the Cardinal of the Kremlin
Indiana Jones and the Beverly Hills Cop

I'd like to see Indy and Mutt back in action, maybe even - gasp! - without a supernatural plot.

But it may be time for a reboot, with a pre-Doom Indy. Would finding a Ford replacement be darn near impossible? Yeah. But there's around 150 million guys in this country alone - there must be someone capable out there.

With three films revolving around the supernatural and one so outlandish it might as well have been, I think it's pretty much a feature of the franchise at this point. I think I would be disappointed if there was an Indy movie that didn't feature some crazy mystical whatchamacallit that brings down the house (literally).

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I really enjoyed Indy 4, but let's make that one the last. I'd rather avoid ruining another classic franchise (e.g. Star Wars) with another bloated CGI-infested run of sequels.

Might as well take care of the Lovcraft fanatics and those people who wanted a Sky Captain sequel, and cash in on an upcoming franchise to boot:

Indiana Jones and Sky Captain at the Mountains of Madness with the Power of Shazam! in the World of Tomorrow.

There was a plan in the mid-90s to do Indy IV, then follow it with a prequel Indy film starring Sean Patrick Flannery to bridge the gap between Young Indy and the 1930s.

Indy IV's long gestation killed that.

I haven' seen Flannery's Indy, so I can't say if he'd have been up to it. Still, it's not too late to try with someone else...

The 4th Movie was so badly received by critics and and fans that it started it's own phrase for when a movie franchise starts to go downhill. A phrase very similar to "Jumping The Shark". "Nuking The Fridge".

??? What?

The movie gross over $734 million worldwide and has a 76% fresh rating at tomatoes... What fans and critics are you talking about other than a vocal minority of nostalgist?

I liked KOTCS and it seems as if it was well recieved for the most part. All of the Indy movies had supernatural elements and moments where credibility was strained. That's part of the fun for me.

Needless haters don't like facts. It gets in the way of their argument.

"Nuking the fridge" is a stupid phrase used by a select few to show off how "clever" they are. It'll be forgotten by year's end.

^If you're saying that Lucas is being stupid for wanting to move forward and change things just for the sake of changing them then I'd have to agree with you. It seems to me Spielberg has a better grasp than Lucas as to what makes Indiana Jones so good.
