Geordi got the girl twice

GulBahana

Commander
Red Shirt
I often hear LeVar Burton say that Geordi never got the girl and they portrayed him as bad with women. There are a couple examples where that was not the case. He finally was able to make out with Christie in "Transformations" and how can we forget about Aquiel? I don't hate that episode as much as many seem to. It's a fun, middle of the road, episode. I've never heard LeVar talk about Aquiel. I wonder what he thinks.

"Geordi only got a few girls" doesn't make as good a story for him to tell people.

Geordi might be my sleeper favourite St:TNG character. He IS bad with women. He has a weird visor attached to his head, which I imagine would make it difficult. But best of all, he's the unluckiest guy in starfleet and is always getting punted around the episode. Classic.

P.S. - in the episode I believe you're referring to, "Transfigurations", the only reason Geordi gets the girl is because of that pulse of energy the John Doe character transfers to Geordi.

I'm surprised no one ever told Geordi the reason he never gets the girl is because he takes himself too seriously and is extremely boring.

It probably wasn't the writers' intention, but Geordi came across as stalkerish creep. The case with the virtual Leah Brahms is obvious, but pining over Aquiel Uhnari after viewing her personal logs wan't much better either.

The Leah Brahms thing was weird, but how many people do you think would do that if we could in this day and age? I think many would, especially people in Geordi's situation, where he is not normally 'prolific', let's say, with women.

I thought Geordi was great in every episode he was important in. The writers could have developed him more. The writers seemed only comfortable developing characters with one big 'Difference from humans' to talk about.

The episodes were Geordi tries his luck with women...real or otherwise....very hard work to watch. Watching those episodes involved me wincing with embarrassment and covering my eyes ALOT.

I never cared for how they handled Geordi and relationships. I wish it had been better handled. It made no sense to me. And I never got the thing he had for Leah Brahms.

Perving on a holodeck creation just heightens the loser/weirdo personality trait, so if "many" just as unsuccessful with women did the same thing, the end result is that they too would be as much a loser/weirdo as Geordi.

Geordi predicted the video game nerds who express love / sexual interest in video game characters, and often speak as if they are real.

...if ever a Tantalus colony or Elba II asylum for nerds was needed....

The problem with Geordi, and I bet many men in similar predicaments, is that he never tried to understand women and treat them as human beings. He always treated them as a problem to be solved like a typical engineer. Women aren't problems, they are human beings (unless they're not) with needs, wants, personalities, quirks and intricacies. He just had to get to know them...not just get into their pants.

It's funny how Geordi was always giving romance advice to Wesley, but when it came time for him, he was a mess.
