By request, this week's hunk is Keanu Reeves. Keanu, which means "cool breeze over the mountains" in Hawaiian, was born to a Chinese-Hawaiian father and an English mother. After his parents split up, he moved with his mother and sister to Toronto. There, he found his love of hockey and developed a keen interest in acting. (IMDB) After a few stage gigs and a handful of made-for-TV movies, he scored a supporting role in the Rob Lowe hockey flick, Youngblood. Later that year, he found his first critic acclaim in the dark adolescent drama, River's Edge. In '89, he hit it big with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Although the "stupid valley boy" image would continue to follow him throughout his career, he took many action-hero and romantic roles as well as smaller parts in respected independent films. Many of his most successful roles would be in genre films, such as The Matrix Trilogy, A Scanner Darkly, Constantine, The Devil's Advocate and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

In 1995, People Magazine named him one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World and Empire Magazine called him "one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history."

Do you agree?

Oh why not, he's cute. :techman:

You people are fussy!

PS, Esai Morales has been cast as the lead on Caprica! Let's do his poll week!!!

I was going for the 'no way' option, but scrolling through the pics made me change my mind to 'meh'. He looks a lot better now versus the Bill and Ted era (shudder)!

What I find annoying is that he's one of those mixed raced actors that no one considers mixed raced. I mean, I guess it's up to him if he doesn't want to make a deal about it, but issues of "passing" always kind of bother me.

Amusingly, in high school, there was a substitute teacher who would always work in how he knew or taught Keanu way back when. Yay Toronto. :p

As for looks... that blank look of bewilderment on his face is just kind of strange to look at. It's like the one expression that he has... which is probably why he was pretty much perfect for The Matrix.

Well, I liked him in Matrix, but I don't really think my alternate female self would go for him; I'll give him a Sideways.

I'll give him that: he's aged well. The Constantine photo is the best one in the bunch. He definitely needs short hair.

Oh yeah baby!!! :drool::drool:

I've loved him forever. I think he was the hottest in The Replacements. Yummmmm.

I agree he has aged well, and I think I might have voted thumbs up if I had never seen him act or speak. Like other posters have mentioned, he's so expressionless that it affects his Hunkiness factor, IMHO!

You know, this would've been an excellent week to temporarily change your voting options to excellent, whoa, and bogus. :p

Whoa woman scifi fans sure are tough. On most other boards he would've probably gotten a 90+ considering a lot of people think he has remained and succeeded in Hollywood only because of his looks.

Does absolutely nothing for me. So, thumbs down. Swayze in the Point Break pic, on the other hand...

I was going to say sideways, but this particular shot does it for me for some reason. Little pecs, but they're hot. I'd hit it.

I got another idea for next week: Lee Pace. :D

Yeah we're pretty murderous. The guys are a lot easier - just look at that weird chihuahua-looking Christina Ricci, getting 60% thumbs up. Keanu's a lot hotter than she is, and I'd think so even if I was a straight guy. :rommie:

If Keanu Reeves were really into hiding his mixed race parentage, he'd be Cal Reeves.

In some quarters it is gospel that Reeves is gay (he supposedly married David Geffen on a beach in Malibu no less!:guffaw:) This probably traces to doing a gay role on stage in Toronton way back when.

Reeves is an action star. As an action star, his acting peers are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Steven Seagal, Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris.

Of course, he is also a pretty actor. I find that pretty actors, people like Richard Gere, Tom Berenger, Tom Cruise, Warren Beatty in his day are often accused of being wooden. Wonder why?
