Always interesting programming for late night drives.
I discovered that piece due to re-runs of the Art Bell show. Complete garbage if taken too seriously, but a fun larf after midnight sometimes. Anti-Christ hotline? Entertaining.

Not anymore, though it's still going on after Art retired and croaked. George Snoory has run that show into the fucking ground.
George Noory also oversaw the show's explosion of added commercials. Art seemed to have more program content per hour than George, and Noory's guests are, well, just worse.
I was referring to listening to Art Bell as I use to ten years or so ago driving at 11 PM
It's absolutely appalling, basically an infomercial for grifters and snake oil salesmen. But I suppose this tirade belongs in another thread.
We never had talk shows like that over here in Australia, at least not in the state I lived in and still do. Most of our late night talk was trash. it would have been fun if we had our own home grown versions of those.
A U.S.S. AR-558 would make a lot of sense to me to honour that battle and the sacrifices made but numbers in the name does look weird. Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no rule that says that couldn't be the name of a ship?
Not that ship naming conventions have consistent rules.
