Gene the Channeler

I haven't myself deep dived into this topic, but I'd be curious to know if anyone here was more read into the mysteries.

So, I'd heard whispers that Roddenberry was part of a group conducting seances purporting to commune with alien intelligences. This would've been before he wrote Trek. Do we imagine that people attempting to embody how off-worlders think could be responsible for many of the alien concepts that are accused of killing the potential for drama in Trek?

It'd be interesting to learn that Gene saw writing as a near religious imperative, and funny how some fans also see Trek through a sort of spiritual prism. Talk of canon is par for the course in that arena. I've personally wondered, if humanity were to at least feign enlightenment and conspire to act as if we were capable of peace -- maybe this would accelerate first contact and serve to cement that utopia.

More likely: Gene whispered to a group of execs, "Will a TV show about aliens make me boatloads of money? Yes? Make it so!"

I’d also like to know the sources for this?

I wouldn’t think aliens were this dumb...

Of more interest to me was solid rocketry’s Jack Parsons…an actual diabolist. That demands a fictitious series: “My assault on the heavens now at last has living weight.”

He even blew himself to hell, so to speak.

No crystals or lame contactees…
