Gene Hackman hit by car in Florida

Gene Hackman was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Florida today .. after the actor was hit by a car while riding his bike in the Florida Keys ... TMZ has learned.

The Florida Highway Patrol tells TMZ ... the 81-year-old Academy Award winner suffered injuries to his head and body.

That's fucking terrible and I'm glad to hear he's not dead.
There's a comic from the US that does a bit about saying that the latest news is that Gene Hackman is dead, but then he tells you it isn't true and aren't you all relieved to hear that he's okay?

That guy came to mind when I saw this thread title.

I jumped the gun a little when typing out the title of this topic since the first website made it seem so serious. Already asked a mod the change it to just hit by a car.

I'm happy he wasn't hurt worse. The guy is 80 years old and people like that usually don't just get up after having been run over by a car.

To be fair, any injury of this nature to an 80+ year old is considered serious, so your thread title isn't that far out of line.

^ Really? I didn't know he retired. Or indeed what his age was.

Glad to hear he will recover. It is indeed more dangerous to suffer injuries like that at an advanced age. Sometimes all it takes is a fall, a broken hip maybe, to start a downward spiral. Hopefully this will not happen to him.

Glad to hear it's not as bad as initially thought.
JRS I heard a radio interview in Denver about a year ago, and he is living in New Mexico and he is writing.
Sad he's not acting anymore, he's one of the best.
 
Glad to hear he is alright and can't believe he is 81! The world needs a guy like Gene Hackman on screen.

You do if you're Gene-fucking-Hackman. That car will probably never work again.
 
Any driver can make a mistake but the driver that knocked Gene down should be hung, drawn and quartered. Get well soon, Popeye Doyle.
 
All I can think about is the scene from "The Quick and the Dead" when Leo shoots Hackman and really just grazes him, he gets knocked off his feet and Leo asks Sharon Stone if he got him and she says yes. Hackman then gets up and is barely bleeding, Leo has been shot in the gut by Hackman and dies.

That car is lucky it's still alive.
